Friday vs Sunday??

Gabriella, on September 18, 2019 at 5:06 PM Posted in Planning 0 31
Hey guys! So me and my FH were set on a date but the venue we love doesn’t have it, thinking of moving to a Friday or Sunday. What is everyone’s opinions on those days? Which would be better to have a wedding on? If you had to go to one, what day would you prefer?

TIA!!

For me it would depend on if a lot of guests have to travel or are local. If a lot of people have to travel I would do it on Sunday, if mostly everyone is local I would do it on Friday night.

I agree with Kelly. I also think it depends on the vibe you’re going for. A Friday evening could have more of a party vibe while a Sunday will probably be more laid back.

I just attended my first Sunday wedding a few weeks ago. It was beautiful and they had an awesome live band. While some did dance I have to say it just didn’t have the party vibe like a Friday or Saturday wedding does. It ended early so we were home early which was nice since we had to work the next day. If you’re going for a laid back brunch feel, then Sunday is a perfect choice. Otherwise I would go for the Friday date. I’ll be going to my second Friday night wedding on the 27th and I’m sure it will be a great time! The last one I went to was epic. We still had our whole weekend afterwards too! But Kelly makes a good point about those traveling, so give that some consideration. Happy Planning 😀

We are having a Sunday wedding! Most of our guests took Monday off. Sunday was cheaper than Friday and Saturday at our venue.

I'd go Friday. I've been to a Sunday wedding and I was so tired for work the next day

We actually had this same issue when we were booking and decided to have ours on a Friday evening. We felt it would have more of the party vibe we’re going for, and would allow out of town guests to still have the full weekend ahead of them to explore the area after wedding festivities ended. Only suggestion I have, regardless of day, is send out either your save the dates, or if you’re not doing those, invitations, earlier than the typical timeframe so guests have plenty of time to plan accordingly and request off work, if required.

As others have mentioned, it depends on the vibe you want. I've been to both Friday and Sunday weddings. Friday weddings set up a 'wedding weekend.' that way you can host a brunch on Saturday and have more time to spend with your out of town guests. In Sunday weddings, I feel like they're more relaxed because you have to be back at work so soon. We're having ours on a Friday - it also allows your guests to have a nice weekend away.

I'd go for a Friday wedding that way your guests can recover the rest of the weekend from a good night. I think Sundays are a little harder for some espeically those who have to work the next day but that's just me. My niece is getting married next year on a Sunday but I plan to take the following day off

I have enjoyed attending weddings on a Friday— even if I have to travel! I love having my whole weekend after the event. If Im traveling, I’ll probably need to take a day off anyway (either the Friday for a Friday wedding or the Monday after the Sunday wedding for traveling), and I always prefer to take off a Friday over a Monday as missing a Monday throws off my whole week, and both H and I are more likely to have quieter work days on a Friday so less of a bother to miss!

Personally for me a Sunday would always be better case. Because then I wouldn’t have to take the day off on Friday.

If you have out-of-town guests, they only have to take Monday off for a Sunday wedding, whereas they would have to take two days off for a Friday wedding.

We’re having our wedding from 3-8 on a Sunday. Most ppl will come in on Saturday and then take Monday off.

I am having a Sunday wedding, especially because where we are having our wedding, the venue's are cheaper on Sunday's. All of our guests are traveling except about 5-6 members of his family, which still have to travel a little as they live at least an hour from where we are wanting to have our wedding at.

We are having a Friday wedding! It was cheaper, and i loved the idea for being able to have a long weekend. Although we know it may stop some guests from coming due to work and travel.
To me a Sunday does not sound as fun due to alot of guests having to work the next day

This just happened to us a few weeks ago when we booked our venue. The day we wanted was already booked and we loved the venue so much we took the Sunday! It's only a one day different which didn't make a big of a deal for us.

That’s what we were so in between because we do have people traveling but more people are local than those traveling. And no one is traveling more than an hour and a half! I think we are leaning towards Friday, thanks for replying!
