French Macaron Favors in CA

Chelsea, on November 13, 2015 at 11:12 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 12

Hey guys,

So FH and I decided to make another wedding decision which was to try and find a bakery to do our wedding favors. I know wedding favors aren't necessary but we really want to do them. Also French Macarons are FH's favorite so we want to do maybe 2 per guest in a box with a cute tag. So far we have tried two different bakeries to determine who makes the best Macarons in our area. We're looking for $1.50 or lower per Macaron. Anyone know of some good ones in Southern California? So far we have tried Happy Sweet Bakery, and Babette's Bakery. (Gives us an excuse to try a bunch too Smiley winking ) Unfortunately the bakery down the street from me is over our budget for favors. $2.00 per Macaron. My Grandmother was shocked but I told her it was expected. Thanks in advance!

We did French macaron favors made by a local bakery. We gave 3 per guest. They were $8 per favor, so about $2.66 each. $2 is quite good.

I have never seen them for less than $1.50 when made fresh from a bakery. I've seen them that low from online ordering but they won't be fresh and likely will taste stale.

I'm not in SoCal, but NorCal, and unfortunately, I have never seen Macaroons that cheap. If you want them from a bakery, it's gonna be at least $2 or $2.5 each, the only way you can probably get them for less is if you get them from a store where they are mass produced and not hand made.

The bakery at Whole Foods in my neighborhood does macarons. I think they might be more than $1.50 each, but I'm not 100% sure. Even so, maybe if they were close, they would give you a slightly better price on a bulk order if you were ordering enough? Might be worth checking into if you have a WF near you.

I know $1.50 is on the cheaper side, a few of the bakeries we have spoken to on the phone have quoted us this price, and we plan on trying each one to make sure there is no lack in quality. Thanks everyone for the advice so far!

As a macaron lover myself, I have to agree with Emily. They're fragile, physically and chemically, and aren't nearly as good when they're not fresh. I've had frozen ones from Trader Joes and they were just meh. I think these are just going to be sort of pricey favors.

Yep they are best when made day-of, which you will not get from online orders.

Lowest I've ever seen here is 1.75 if you buy in bulk (well more like if you buy 25+)

I love macarons! But they are pricey. Maybe if this is out of your budget, this would be a good favor idea for your shower?

Wanted to add that if it starts to get too pricey or the cheaper macarons lacked quality, I'd just go with the more expensive macaron and just put one in the box instead of 2 like you planned. The smaller boxes for one macaron may also be cheaper and save some extra $$.
