Free standing shepherds hooks?

*~WiiFeY~*, on January 21, 2011 at 2:39 PM Posted in Planning 0 20

When we were planning an outdoor ceremony I fell in love with this look (first attached pic). Well now we're doing an indoor ceremony, and I would really love to incorporate the mason jars in the church as well, but its impossible to hang things from the chairs in our church. Soo.. then I realized I could hang them from something else like a shepherds hook (second pic).. But, everything I've found in stores (I've looked in Lowes and a few craft stores) are garden shepherds hooks, so you just stick them in the ground. Obviously I can't do that with carpet lol I'm only looking for a few, to do maybe one every 5 rows of seats, something like that.. But I can't find them anywhere! And what I have found cost almost $30, and I really dont want to spend that much on them, considering the garden ones I've seen are under $10.. Anyone wanna look for me?? I think I've gone to every website google gave me, but still you girls might be able to find something I didn't!

Could you do the garden ones, and stick them in a pot, or filled mason jar, so they don't topple over with the weight of the mason jar and flower?

Also, is there a method that you can tie them with a ribbon (or something) to the ceremony seating?

What about using flower pots, putting styrofoam in them and cover the top up with rocks or sand or something?

They have hooks that snap onto the edge of a table so maybe you could hook that to the side of the pew then attach the jars to it?

Have you look at any pedestals that you could put the jars on and hand the flowers from?

Wonder if you use pew hooks or ribbon.. Make "handles" out of wire for the mason jars.. See below..

I know you can buy the ones that have a plate on the bottom. I've seen them at home depot, garden centers, etc. I actually bought ones that go in the ground at The Bargain Shop. And they're heavy duty! $4/piece

    Also found these:

http://www.setyourscene.com.au/Ceremony Decoration Hire Prices.htm (about half way down, $12 each)

Also there's such a thing as pew clips, not sure if that will work:

And to weigh it down you could put rocks under the styrofoam.

Thanks everyone! I have class in a second and have a lot of schoolwork, but I'm going to have to take a look at all of these tonight! Thanks so much Smiley smile

Oh, and as far as pew hooks, we don't have pews. We have chairs. The picture I'm attaching is my sister's wedding at the same church. She had to pin her flowers to the chairs, but that's kind of hard to do with mason jars, hanging or not.

And I have to admit, I didn't like the idea of a flower pot or bucket at the base of the pole, but I LOVE that picture in the link that you sent me, cindy c!

I just bought my shepherds hooks today. We are planning on having an outdoor ceremony, so I bought the kind you can stick in the ground. If we end up having to move indoors due to weather, we are going to do as someone mentioned and put them in big heavy flower pots Smiley smile
