Foundation?

Raina, on August 17, 2017 at 12:34 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 29

I am trying to find a good foundation that will last if not all day most of the day and something that does not has spf. I've been looking into the NARS all day luminous weightless foundation. Is anyone familiar with that one? I'm open to all recommendations. I'm a combination skin type and extremely fair skin.

ETA. Can you give me pros and cons of foundations?

I really like Kat Von D's Lock It foundation. I think my sister uses Nars. She loves them

I love Estee Lauder Double Wear. It's build-able but you really just need a little bit. I have dry skin and it works beautifully but I also believe it would be great for oily since it is more matte. It also photographs BEAUTIFULLY!

It depends on your skin type and level of coverage you want. NARS tends to have great products that are buildable. Are you planning on doing your own makeup?

I like a couple of different products and I've listed why below. Hope this helps a bit.

MAC Face and Body- This is an old formula that I have used for years. It is a matte finish with a medium to full coverage. The more you blend this into the skin the thicker it gets.

Chanel Vitalumiere - this is a light to medium finish with luminescence. Leaves my skin dewy and light. It does have spf in it, I think you can get it without. This works with a setting powder without it getting too thick.

IT Cosmetics CC + Illumination Cream-has spf but is full coverage but stays put for hours.

If you want anything to last all day, use a primer and a setting spray. No matter how good the foundation, it won't last all day without those two things.

I like the Smashbox primer and Urban Decay setting spray. (For foundations I like my Lancome but it has an SPF.)

I use benefit poreless primer and the maybelline fit me foundation. I use a little setting powder in my oily areas and finish my whole look off with NYX matt setting spray.

No 7 Stay Perfect foundation is awesome and affordable! It has stayed on my skin even on hot, sticky days. They have it at Target and Ulta in the drugstore section.

For my day of I'm using Kat Von D Lock it Foundation. It makes my sling look literally flawless. I've also used Estée Lauder. However I think it dries out my face. Smash Box Studio Skin is great. It's a 15 hr wear.

Estee Lauder Double Wear. I live in Florida with crazy humidity and wear a full face of makeup everyday, it is one of the few foundations that looks just as good at 9pm as it did at 5am.

I agree with everyone saying Estee Lauder double wear! That stuff is amazing. The Lancome Teint d'Idole isn't bad either.

ETA: I have oily skin, for reference. I wore Double Wear on wedding day and it held up like a champ from 12:00 P.M. to 4:00 A.M. Seriously.

I'm very pale and I always had a hard time finding a foundation that was not orange on me. IT Cosmetics CC Cream is amazing for pale and oily skin. I wear it for about 10 hours a day while i'm at work and it doesn't budge. It is full coverage, but it also has that lightweight feel. I also recommend getting a good primer, setting powder, and setting spray.

I'm very pale and I use L'oreal True Match Naturale Mineral Foundation in soft ivory. It's a powder type foundation that comes with a brush, it's the only foundation I have tried that matches my skin while not making me look odd and ghostly. It seems to last quite a few hours but my face does get a little oily after a few hours if its hot out, I just use the brush (without foundation) though to touch it up and that helps. I agree with Tallah that you need a good primer and setting spray. I use smashbox primer normally but I bought hourglass primer for the wedding and it works way better but is super expensive. I use Urban Decay for setting spray.

@Savannah-are you buying teenage makeup? I'm porcelain skinned and have never found foundation too orange. Mind you I wear MAC or Smashbox or Benefit. You get what you pay for. Find a line that has more than 6 shades.

@JessieJV What exactly is teenage makeup? I didn't realize makeup had an 'age range'. I'm old enough to know what works for my skin. One of my favorite companies is MAC, but the last few times I have bought foundation from there it turned me orange. I have very fair skin with pink undertones. A lot of foundation matches my skin tone at first, but then it oxidizes (turns orange) throughout the day. IT cosmetics and Smashbox have been my holy grails for awhile. I'm also a strong believer in you get what you pay for, but I have also had a lot of high-end makeup companies disappoint me as well.

    Is this for your wedding?

If it is- your MUA should be providing it.

Savanna- seriously? there is tons of low range make up designed for kids who want fun make up and have no budget. That's literally exactly what it's designed for.
