Formal Invitations wording help

Lav, on September 22, 2021 at 1:56 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 12
My wedding is October 1st 2022
I am having trouble writing more formal, because my English is my second language and I am still learning. How would you write this date?

Saturday, On October the first or Saturday, On First Of October? If none of these are correct, how would you write these?

Minted has a great resource for wedding wording that you might find helpful. Here's a link: https://www.minted.com/wedding-ideas/wedding-invitation-wording

I agree with Sarah's wording options above. You can also do "Saturday, the first of October, two thousand twenty two"

There are definitely more options than just those 2 but those are simple and the ones I see more often.

We also used this article as reference. We did "Saturday, the third of September, two thousand twenty-one at five-thirty in the evening" for ours (H didn't like "half past five" to designate 5:30 lol).

Thank you! I will take a look in the article. I like when all the words is written, feels more formal 🥰

Why did you use evening instead of afternoon? Because afternoon will go until 6pm and then after 6pm is evening…

I agree - I liked the way the words flowed when all spelled out Smiley smile

I think the article said afternoon was 12-4pm and evening was after 5pm, so we just rolled with it!

I was reading somewhere else and it was saying that both ways are correct, but if your event is following after 5pm the correct term is evening. Which is my case, our ceremony will be 5pm and reception between 6-11pm will probably go after 11

I will have to change everything lol…At least I have plenty of time.

Saturday, the First of October would be the most traditional. The “on” is not necessary, but if you were to include it, it would go before the “Saturday” …. “Evening” is good for 5pm and later.
