"formal invitation to follow?'

Fireworks WIFE, on January 26, 2013 at 1:21 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 5

We are having a casual fourth of july wedding, it'll be a mixture of a wedding and a family reunion I am sure. We are sending out STD postcards mid February but should I add ' formal invitation to follow' on the bottom? I mean we will also be sending out invitations closer to time, but they will probably be very casual.. sorry if this is a silly question.

I don't think it is a silly question at all! Smiley smile

I would think that when you put formal invitation to follow, it more so means that a traditional invitation that has all the info is going to be sent out, not that the invitation or the wedding itself will be a formal one.

I questioned this one a lot and took my moms advice which was leaving it off. I got a lot of questions from people who weren't used to STD's wanting to know the info (place, time etc) formal invitation to follow is a good idea to include on the STD if your circle isn't used to or know what the STD is for.

I just put "invitation to follow" cus its not really all that formal. I'm picky like that but i thought it made it sound less "formal"

If you are worried about appearing too "formal" I would just put "invitation to follow" so that you avoid the Jesyka described.
