Forest Wedding Help

Sabrina, on December 29, 2017 at 10:39 PM Posted in Planning 0 7

So I live in Long Island and my Fiance lives in New Jersey. We're looking for a place that would look similar to this picture below. I fell in love with the idea of this "wedding in the woods". I really hope I can recreate this but I can't find a place anywhere like near my area or his area. Closest I found was Stroudsmoor in PA and that's 3 hour hike from Long Island. Too far. Please help.

    Carmel, NYForest Wedding Help 2

This is on public state land around the corner from Putnam County Veteran's Memorial Park in Carmel NY, Putnam County. Not sure if you could have a ceremony here, if you may need a permit, or how you would go about it, but one of my bridesmaids got married at the Veteran's Memorial Park in 2016.

Keep in mind that most places in order to get that look you are going to have to do some traveling which might be difficult in a wedding dress. I don’t know of any place that has an alter set up but some places to try (building off of Alforev)
    -Pakim Pond
    -Turkey Swamp
-Whitesbog Village (may have some venues that fit your vision)

also Tyler Statw Park in Bucks County PA

Check out camps! There is a girl scout camp in Long Island and I know they rent them out during off seasons for weddings. Plus the costs go to a good cause, and if it rains they have halls for backup!

The Pine Barrens are all the way down by the shore near Atlantic county. That’s going to be just as long of a hike as Stroudsmoor. It’s a 2 hour train to Trenton and an hour or more drive. They would need to make sure to be at a venue where are lots of hotels nearby as most guests will want to treat it like a semi destination wedding.

OP - I would search on wedding-spot.com or through their app to find similar venues. However you may just need to decide to do it semi destination style. Also make sure you have a clear back up plan nearby.

Not true. The Pine Lands go as far north as around Jackson and as far west as Medford and then extend south towards the Shore.
