Super September 2014

for those who used vistaprint...

Are their plain white envelopes that come with the invites decent enough to just use?

I don't want to pay for fancier envelopes, but I don't want to be able to see through them either. I am using what is actually a Thanksgiving invite and it's a flat invitation that will be in the envelope with just a single piece of paper for a map (I may even try to print the map on the back of the invite).

I used the plain ones. I just ordered some cute return address labels to "spice" it up lol

I used them. They weren't terrible as far as being able to see through them, but some of the design did still show through. I didn't want to spend extra, either, so I just used it as-is. If you're worried about it, putting the map on a separate paper would help. You can also order a small amount (I think 10 is their minimum) to see what it looks like before committing to a large order.

I actually really hated the envelopes. I made envelope liners for mine with fancy scrapbook paper - I found a tutorial on Wedding Bee.

They are a bit transparent, but I'm still planning to use them. I don't think anyone will notice, I guess it just depends how important this is to you.

I used them for my inner envelopes and purchased nicer ones from Office Max to put them in for mailing.

I used them as well. I didn't care too much about my invitations. They're nice. I saw on

www.marthastewart.com how you can dress them up yourself. Take a magic marker in the color scheme of your invites, and trace a line on the edge of the invitation envelope. Go all around the front, and then the back, and also tracing along the edge of the flap. I'm trying to find the link I had for it, but I can't find it! Grrrr.....

    I found it!!!!! http://thecraftsdept.marthastewart.com/2013/02/photo-valentines.html

They are not bad, but you can get some SUPER cheap envelopes on amazon, which is what I did. ( I got these for the invites http://www.amazon.com/Envelopes-Cream-32lb-Bond-Recycled/dp/B0046BF14E/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1392653474&sr=8-1&keywords=A7+cream+envelopes) I mean, for $21 for 250 envelopes, you really can't beat that. I got them last week and they are amazing quality. I also got the envelopes for the RSVPs- they were about the same price I think. I don't have that link on hand, but it was the same seller on Amazon so should be easy to find!

I used them for the STD magnets & they were fine for that. For our invitations though, I want the decorated envelopes.

The envelopes that Vistaprint provided with our save the dates were 100% see through. I ended up buying gold lined envelopes from Staples.com for a decent price. I also bought a cute gold "save the date" heart sticker from etsy to seal them.

They are cheap and not 100% opaque. They are similar thickness and quality to the envelope you'd receive a bill in.

I'm using them anyway. But it's up to you.

A relatively inexpensive way to dress up plain envelopes.
