for those walking to Canon in D

Snif, on November 2, 2010 at 1:59 PM Posted in Planning 0 24

I think I said that right. Anyway, if you are walking down the aisle to this song what song are you picking for your bridesmaids?

I'm pretty sure I'm going to walk to Canon because it's always that song that I hear in weddings or in the movies that makes me tear up but I'm struggling with finding a song that sort of 'goes' with it for the BMs to walk down before me.

thanks!

The leader of my string trio helped me make my selections and made sure the music we picked flowed well.

If you want to keep the classic theme; check out "trumpet voluntary" it is what Princess Diana and Queen Elizabeth II walked to

The Canon in D by Pachelbel is a beautiful piece that develops as it progresses. I'm always sad when I have to cut it so I usually recommend that it be used for the entire processional including the bride. There is nothing at all that says that you have to change the music. In fact, I sometimes suggest that it begin with the seating of the mothers, that way, it reaches it's dramatic conclusion with the arrival of the bride. I also make a point of playing loud with big and beautiful chords as the brides processes. Even in the longest church, it only takes about half a minute for the bride to get down the aisle and that doesn't allow for very much of this beautiful piece.
