If you're getting married outdoors who is going to be your officiant? Is it someone you found through court? Or is that possible? I found out my uncle who is a deacon can't perform the ceremony outdoors and it must be through a church only. I really want my wedding outdoors though so now I'm...

I really want my wedding outdoors though so now I'm wondering where I can look to have someone come out. Please help Smiley smile)

Just remember that if your wedding is officiated by a judge without the advance permission of the Catholic church, it will never be recognized by the Catholic church. If that recognition is important to you, you might consider having at least a small ceremony in the church, followed by whatever you want to have outside.

@Whitney L.: In what state are you getting married? States vary a lot in their requirements for officiants. The last thing you want to do is go through the whole wedding, and then find out you're not legally married.

We found our officiant online. We met with her ahead of time at the outside ceremony location to put a deposit down. Most of the time we communicated online like to choose what would be included in our ceremony. She was great. It cost $125, and it was important to us to not have to go to marriage counseling because number 1) we felt we didnt need it because we already live together and have been together for 8 years and number 2) we didnt have time to go to a 6 month counseling class.

Look around, you will find the right one, it takes time!

The only issue we had was our minister wasnt affiliated with any church we had gone to and I dont think my DHs aunt liked that! That was the first question she asked us as we made our way around the reception, what church did our minister attend!

I am pretty stuck on this one too, My dad has a friend that does wedding but everytime I see him, he is in overalls, and not sure if he even owns a suit. So that would be out of the question for me. Then a friend of our brought a guy over to buy one of our pool tables and he said he can do wedding. So I am not sure what we are going to do. ugh.. This is really worrying my FH he asks all the time if I have found someone else. I say nope, but you can..

We got a referral from our venue. Turns out her mom had just gotten remarried and she was also a former employee. Very laid back and just what we were looking for since we aren't religious. I've found the costs online are way too expensive for our 1/2 hour ceremony. She is only charging us $100.00 as long as we pick the material and flow.
