For second marriages or older brides, how traditional are your weddings?

Just wondered how others in my situation/age are arranging their weddings....sticking with tradition or not so much as this is the second (or more) go round.

I'll be in my late 40s and my fh in his 50s (second marriages for both) so not sure how traditional we will be. So far we wont be having a bridal party and I wont be wearing a veil or garter. Probably wont do a bouquet toss either. I am wearing a white wedding dress tho!

Would love to hear your plans!

Hi... I'm 44 and getting married for the second time. My first wedding was on a beach on a remote island, not really the wedding that I wanted at all. We had no guests, no make-up, I chose the only dress available and the wedding cake was awful (looked great but I don't eat nuts and guess what..!) But the photos looked great!

This time I have visited countless bridal shops, I am wearing a big white dress, I'll have my hair and make up done, a veil... I'm having my children as bridesmaids and my son is walking me down the isle. I can't get married in church or afford to get married in a castle, so they are the only things that aren't in the dream..

You could say a full-on traditional wedding !

I'm thinking the same about toasts, grand entrance, etc. Just let everyone enjoy themselves!

That makes sense! You could always do a vow renewal when finances are settled.

Second marriage for me and first for FW. We are getting married by her godfather at a beach house in Vieques, Puerto Rico. Super small only like 20 guests. We will each have a MOH. Nothing traditional about it and we love it that way! Every element embodies who we are as unit!

I'm 36 snd he is 40, our first wedding (we've been together for 15 years). We are decent size wedding (75 people) and doing all the normal stuff. Bouquet toss, garter thingy, wedding party, food etc. I'm the only girl and he doesn't have sisters. The wedding is for the family lol. It should be fun. I answering ivory and champagne dress.

Im 53 and my fiancée is 42, both second timers. We are in the planning stages. I’m going to look for an antique white dress and like you no garters or veil. We are looking at an intimate wedding on the beach about 20-30 guests. We are trying to have fun with it.

I will be 38, my fiancee will be 26 when we get married next year but it is the first (only) marriage for both of us. It will be untraditional in that we were both born female but my FS is nonbinary. But other than that it will be completely traditional minus the bouquet toss - my bouquets will be crystal snowflakes and will have pointy ends - it would be extremely dangerous to throw that at people! And no garter because we find that distasteful. Plus most of our guests will already be married so it would make the ones that are not standout and probably embarrass them. We are doing an anniversary dance instead to honor the longest married couple. We will also have minimal dancing but that is because we LOVE food and arent really dancers so we want lots of food and would end up being the ones sitting which would be a bummer for guests during the dancing part if it was longer than maybe an hour.

It'll be my first and FH's second. I will have maybe 3 bridesmaids, but no veil, garter toss, or anything overly juvenile. I'm wearing a white dress, but it's not fluffy-it's actually the dress that my MOH wore at her wedding.

I'M IN MY MID FORTY'S AND MY FIANCE IS IN HIS LATE FORTY'S THIS WILL BE THE FIRST MARRIAGE FOR BOTH OF US. I'M MIXING TRADITIONAL WITH NEW. MY DRESS WILL HAVE NO TRAIN AND I MOST LIKELY WILL NOT WEAR A VEIL.

This will be my second and his first. We are making it all about us. That means we are having fun with it. I am not wearing a traditional wedding dress. We are doing more of a 1950’s vintage style attire. We are not doing garters, bouquet toss or anything like that. We will be playing music that we love from the 70’s up until now.
