Our local DIY reception was last summer but finally time to share pics…
Theme: Late 50s/early 60s swanky Rat Pack nightclub. Guests were required to dress era appropriate (adorable pics but don’t want to post without permission). Almost all DIY so I included décor notes in case you want to use any ideas. Guests loved the fake cigarettes we put on bar.
Tip: Choose your theme before the venue. When we booked the outdoor winery venue we were planning a Mad Men brunch. We changed to a Rat Pack nightclub. Ugh. An indoor venue would have been much easier to decorate in theme!
Invites from Zazzle (had polka dot stamps too but forgot for pic)
hired local actress as seat hostess!
venue with feather vases we made (bad WIND, chairs had to be folded against tables)
decorated w/ linens, orange bubble candles, programs, ashtrays, fake cigarettes
table assignments by singer: Sinatra, Martin, etc.
place setting with custom coaster & music CD
decorated bar & staff dressed up! (on their own and we gave some accessories)
cut-outs and old props (phones, radios, newspapers) from thrift stores & online
Hubby (left) learned a Dean Martin song and sang w/ our hired Frank Sinatra!
dessert shots included so we just got a small cake for cutting
cake w/ polka dot ribbon (B/W colors + dots) & vintage topper
