For Real

Is it just me or is this a hell of a lot more stressful and overwhelming than you originally thought 😖 . Like I don't even know what I'm doing.

No I don't have a planner. . I have a guesstimate budget, I want a small wedding, probably 75 guests or so, looking for a simple inexpensive venue like a park but a lot have alcohol restrictions .. centerpieces and most of the decor is probably going to be diy..

I know , contacting venues for price quotes and what not, like a kick in the chest. My top is probably 5k . Trying to get creative with ideas to save money, most is going to be diy for sure .. and getting stuff in bulk from like Costco

That's a neat thought, not so much my style, but if it works it works 😊 I'm looking more toward a campsite to rent for the weekend.. hang out all night by a bonfire sort of vibe

It almost seems impossible. My fiance and I are looking to buy our first house this year, like hopefully in the next few months, so the whole financial situation is overwhelming, for our registry I'm probably just asking for a honeymoon fund.

I hear ya, I've been pouring just about all of my energy into this planning, it sort of helps at this time, considering my younger brother just passed away in December, its been a positive outlet for griefing and just getting out of my head. . I also would just like to have everything figured out and lined up so I don't have to spend my whole year tied to it. But I have a feeling I will be anyway

We're trying to keep it around 5k, I decided to cut the guest list to around 75. Doing most of the decor diy , looking for bulk flowers from like costco, simpler options from a cake or dessert table, going donuts all the way lol . Thinking a food truck rental maybe and definitely byo alcohol.. going for a rustic bohemian sort of style so checking out campsites and other outdoor spaces. Just trying to get creative with ideas to cut down on spending so much..

Yes and no. I mean I would like for this wedding to be as nice and classy as possible so I do worry about pricing and that kinda overwhelms me. Timing is not really an issue since in my state people get married in a hurray all the time so I figure we could wait til last minute to do a bunch of stuff.

Haha 😆...Even though I am having a great time planning it is absolutely overwhelming at times. One moment I'm great and within the same minute the phone goes flying across the room lol. Where do you live if you dont mind me asking? Also do you maybe know anyone who has a big enough yard where you can do an outside wedding in their backyard or front if its appealing. That way you wont be limited to restrictions and can do most of the things you desire for your big day...you can even use one of those fire pits for your "bon fire".

I have the benefit of having done this before so I somewhat knew what to expect. What I didn’t expect was my FH’s stress level. The wedding was his idea, I wanted to elope! But he insisted on a big wedding and now is feeling so anxious that he’s going to see a counselor. For my part, I feel like it’s actually going pretty well, especially since we are planning and paying for it ourselves. My dad made my first wedding a living hell, obsessing over every dime.

My big stress is a lack of vision. I have lots of little fun ideas, but no idea if or how they will all come together into something great or just one hot mess. I guess we’ll see when the time comes!

I thought I could have the wedding I wanted on $15,000 but nope. The average wedding costs like $20,000 and we have 150 guests. I had sticker shock and was so stressed.
The most stressful part was securing the venue I wanted because dates were being booked so fast. I feel excited sometimes but then when I think of costs I feel stressed.

My brother couldn't wrap his head around why wedding planning is so stressful. He figured you hire a photographer, buy some nice clothes, go to a church, then feed everyone. Easy, right? I told him the stressful part is that you have a vision in your mind of what you want your wedding to be, and you need to find venues, vendors, decor, clothes, etc etc that will all fit your dream-wedding-fantasy while also staying in budget! Plus deal with so much family/friend drama (which is NOT fair ftr).

I thought I knew how to manage my money well till it got to wedding planning. It has been so hard knowing how much money is going out but it has to be done. Then, family drama, like THE WORST! Everyone wants to give their opinions and it feels like it's not your wedding anymore but everyone's wedding. 78 days left and im stressing that all my plans will prob not play out the way I want them to.
