I love the idea of having a food truck at the reception. Not having a traditional buffet will take up less room at our venue but my fiancé brought up a couple concerns with it. He is concerned the truck will be to loud and will be disruptive during the ceremony. Also, if we have inclement weather it would be less than ideal to have our guest go outside to get their food. Has anyone had or been to a wedding with a food truck?

Yikes. I think you’d need at least 4 trucks to serve your guests and honestly, I think the wait will be much longer than a buffet (with multiple lines).

Not a wedding, but we used to do food truck Fridays once a month where we worked. It took forever and since Covid they’ve stopped it all together. The food was really good once you got it, but if it rained there was no back up plan and they would reschedule.
If you do decide to go with the food truck, I would suggest having some sort of rain plan, also definitely have other food available so guests don’t have to wait as long to eat.

I would just be worried about a food truck serving that many people. They generally are very slow, so I think your guests might get frustrated if they have to wait too long for their food

A way to get an idea is to check with a few companies that have food trucks and ask if they jave ever done any wedding services. If so ask if they can provide you with a few guest references. Follow up with the guest themselves. Plus most people live to show off their wedding and reception videos, it is a possiblity that someone has a video with the food truck in the background. Then you can ask that person the pros and cons of having a food truck. Plus there are quiet trucks that dont have the load generators like most of the old outdated ones. Then after that its up to you and your spouse. I hope this helps.

With 180 guests I think you'd need 4 food trucks IMO. Unless you have a budget large enough to hire 4 food trucks, I'd nix the idea and just do a buffet.

We plan on having a coffee truck and a donut truck (2 separate trucks) for late night pick me ups! Hopefully it will be quick for 120 guests!
