Hi all! We just booked our venue for August 2020! Our venue does in house catering and they mentioned that they have a group tasting coming up and wanted to see if we wanted to sign up for it. They let us know the cost and I think I was a little taken back because I always assumed the food tasting was complimentary. The cost of private tasting is pretty high too so seems like we'll stick to the group one! Just wondering what everyone else's experience has been with this?

Our tasting was complimentary for up to 4 people for 5-6 items made up of either main courses or side dishes.

Its common for caterers to charge for tastings. I assumed we would have to but I just found out our caterer does complimentary tastings. It just depends

Our venue is all inclusive. Our tasting was semi complimentary (we were able to do 4x entree selection at no charge, 2x veggies & 2x starches no apps). Tip was not included.

Our tasting was free. We are going through a hospitality group in northern Michigan. They sent us to one of our restaurants, paid for food, apps and wine.

Our tasting was this past Saturday. This was complimentary and we got to taste 6 hors d’oeuvres and 3 main course options. I would think it would be free as you need to try the food that you’ll be serving guests!

We didn't have to pay for our tasting, but we did have to bring our catering deposit to the tasting. i think depending on how much the tasting would cost it's may be worth it. i'm super happy we had our tasting. 1. it was the most fun FH and i have had. 2. food is one of, if not the most, important part of a wedding. so knowing what you're serving will help ease your mind.
