Food Menus

Crystal, on June 16, 2022 at 3:33 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 32
How are you doing your food menus? Per plate? Per table? Plated? Buffet? If you do a buffet do you still use food menus on the plates/at the tables?

I’m not doing menus. I’m having food stations and labeling the stations with the theme of each station and then each food will be labeled too.

We’re not doing menus. We used the WW website to make our wedding page. When our guest RSVP they have the option of picking their food items. This was our way of informing them of the menu.

We are doing a platted meal and menus at each table setting (mainly just for decor since we aren’t doing anything with individual place settings outside of napkins and utensils)… when guests RSVP’ed they only selected meat, seafood or vegetarian, so at least the menu can notify them for what they will get. However in my opinion, menus are not necessary at all!! Guests will eat regardless! I was just at a wedding that did individual menus at each place setting for a buffet and it was nice knowing what was coming (again not necessary, but looked nice with the decor).

Guests are choosing their meals when they RSVP online so I will not have menus at each place setting.

Instead, I’ll be doing thank you notes at each place setting. I may also do one menu per table spelling out each actual meal, since like above poster, guests will only know whether it’s chicken/beef/fish/vegetarian, and not what the actual meal consists of.

I chose individual menus for decor and formality of a plated service, but it's up to you. I have read for buffet stations, it's nice to have 1 menu per table so your guests can plan their eating strategy. Plus, it gives them something to read and talk about while they wait.

We did a buffet and had the food menu displayed at table and on invitation actually. I honestly think having it on the invitation created more excitement. They were all about the food!

We did menus per plate as table settings. We had a buffet. Personally, I love knowing what my options are before going up to a buffet so that I can be sure to put together a cohesive meal. It also helps move the line along as people aren’t reading/thinking/deciding in the moment

Yes! Me too, I hate getting up there and feeling like I’m holding up the line because I don’t know what I want. Or not knowing what something is or what it’s made of.

We had a southern BBQ with Tori too, ribs , chicken, macaroni and cheese, greens, coke slaw and a open bar with continuous margaritas and eastsiders. I hear the food was good, sadly I didn’t eat. 😉😂😉

Dang!!!!! That sounds good! I’m leaning more towards the Mexican dishes but I believe we can mix and match. Sadly, our venue won’t let us bring our own food smh I really wanted some Belizean food at our wedding 😔
I hear brides say that a lot (not being able to eat). I will task one of my bridesmaids to sneak me away to eat lol

Yeah! I wanted to do per plate for formality and it looks nice but I keep thinking, what are they going to do with it after???? I think I’ll go with one menu per table and use name cards on the settings for formality and decor.

Belizean? Yes!! Yes I did not eat just a small plate while getting dressed but that was futile. I didn’t even drink I was sober and drunk on the beauty of the day. Can’t wait to hear about your da and plans!

Yes, I am from Belize (Central America) but we follow more of a Caribbean culture rather than the Spanish speaking countries in Central America. For my party we had ox tail, rice and beans, plantain, potato salad, jerk chicken. I wanted something similar at the wedding but they will have to cook it. I’m not feeling that… but most venues make their money from catering so that’s why they’re not allowing outside food.

That many sounds awesome. And it said that they don’t allow outside food but let me tell you guess come for the food the drink and the music. So your video best be prepared to serve, especially if they’re dealing with Belizeans!

We're doing a plated dinner, and will be doing menus at each place setting customized to what that person actually chose on their RSVP. A coworker of mine did this at his wedding last year and I loved it. It served as his place card and I thought it was so nice. We're doing it slightly different than he did, in that my stationary person (who is THE BEST) is creating the menus and will print them based on how many people are getting what (e.g. 35 Salmon, 50 Chicken, 17 beef, 2 vegetarian etc) and then the place cards separate, with the menus being designed so that the place cards can be attached with a heart shaped paperclip and placed at each seat.

Seems very formal, but that's the vibe I'm going for. I found it so nice at my coworker's wedding because it was a wonderful reminder of what I had chosen! (My other coworker's remark to me was literally "Oh good, cause I totally forgot what I had picked.")

Sure! This is the one from my coworker's wedding (ours aren't made yet). The only difference we are doing is the name will essentially be removable (its cheaper to print just a stack of menus with the chosen entree, than doing it this way). When we sat down it was tucked into the napkin on the plate, and the stationary matches the invites - which we are doing as well. Worked great as both functions - the menu and to let you know where your seat was once you found the table (which was on a big acrylic board in alphabetical order with just a table number).
