Food favors - is it ok?

Okay, so my fiancé and I are thinking about doing food as a favor at our reception. Our venue offers the ability to send guests off with different little goodies and the one we really like is soft pretzels with different toppings you can add yourself. I think that this is something that is creative and cute, it’s an easy option because it can be offered to all guests as they are leaving the event. We were even thinking putting a little sign saying “Thanks for celebrating us tie the knot” or something similar.

The problem: people are telling me that soft pretzels aren’t something that everyone likes and it might not be vegan so some guests may not eat it. I’m a little worried because I want an easy and money-friendly favor for all guests but is this the wrong idea? Is food in general a bad idea? I think people are expecting me to give out sunglasses, cups/drink ware, picture frames, etc. with our date on it and I just don’t really agree since eventually those type of things become dust collectors. Am I wrong? Help!

If a lot of your guests are traveling food favors are also ideal, since they don’t have to shove it in their suitcase

I'm doing a late night burger & fries station, most people forgot to take traditional favors home anyways, you cant please everyone! but majority of people like to be fed!

I wouldn’t cater to only a few. That is a choice most make. We are doing tic tacks with a label that says “Mint to be”

I would keep the pretzel idea. If someone doesn't like it or won't eat it, then they don't need to take it. We are doing food as a favor and I know not everyone will take one. Oh well. More people are going to throw away a non-edible favor than you may think. Stick with the pretzels! It is a cute idea!

It’s easier on a laptop than the app but you should be able to edit the list from there - you can delete the premade ones and add your own!

Girl, it's your wedding, do what you want! You can incorporate gluten free and vegan pretzels as well as gluten free and vegan toppings too for that side of the spectrum if you please.

Sounds good to me! You can’t worry about vegans honestly. My Aunt is vegan and luckily my venue has a vegan menu option which was a bonus, but she’s used to not always being accommodated.

I think that's an awesome idea. So what if it's not vegan, if they don't like it they don't have to eat it. It's your day! We are doing a make your own trail mix bar for our favors. My honest opinion for favors is the same as yours. I wouldn't want to spend the money on something people ate going to throw out right away anyway. Good luck!

This is a GREAT idea! We did something similar where we ended the night with a food truck serving fresh mini donuts and it was a total hit. Let's be honest, favors can be thoughtful and cute, but I've been to a dozen weddings, and can't tell you what any of the favors are or where they are now except for a rogue printed koozie hanging out in our kitchen. Just because it is there does not mean everyone has to eat it, just as if you had a basket of sunglasses as favors not everyone may take a pair.

    I love your idea!!

Food favors are always better than wasting $$ on things people leave behind.

Girl, go with the food. You can never go wrong. People will always hVe a good issue— allergy, gluten, nuts, salt, sugar ... the list is ridiculous. Put it out there! People will go for it (most) or they won’t! Save yourself the $$

I would go for the food. Its fun and creative and like they said not everyone eats the cake or even cares to take a favor when its candies or dated items. It's your day and I think your guests will be happy to celebrate you and appreciate how cute the ideas is regardless of if they partake or not.
