Food & Drinks while getting ready

Bee, on March 28, 2017 at 8:44 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 1 32

Hi all, we're trying to figure out food for when the bridal party and I are getting ready. We're all staying at the b&b where the wedding is taking place and we will all be having breakfast at the inn together before we start getting ready. The wedding is at 5pm and the photographer needs us fully set and ready for pics by 2pm. So we're obviously getting ready between breakfast and 2pm. Should we have lunch or drinks provided for those few hours? FH and I have been in a total of 10 weddings and none of them served anything other than bagels or breakfast and coffee in the bridal suite. Did you provide alcoholic drinks (if so, what) or lunch in addition to breakfast?

Yea I was thinking sandwiches from a local restaurants. Feel like it's ideally not messy.

I'm having a local deli provide bagels and small wraps, along with some fruit and coffee. I'll also have on hand orange juice and champagne, because mimosas are important lol

I'm going to have paninis or wrap plus salad brought in from a local place. Nothing too heavy, but enough to get us through until dinner.

We'll probably have mimosas. Barefoot makes an awesome berry champagne that is great mixed with lemonade or raspberry lemonade!

I bought a sandwich platter and wrap platter with chips. Then got soda, water and champagne. It was enough for everyone.

Ohhhhh good idea with the mimosas. I didn't want to spend money on too much alchohol since we have the open bar for 6 hours later that day. How many bottles of champagne do you think we need for 6 girls? I'm counting the vendors for the food but thats assuming they wont be drinking alcohol. Should I count them in for the drinks? That would bring our count to 10 girls. The guys (6 total) drink nothing but beer so I'm thinking a 12 pack of their favorite beer.

What I usually see in the getting ready rooms is; platters of little wraps or finger sandwiches, fruit and cheese, crudites with dip, cookies.

I think four bottles of champagne, the beer and sparking water will cover you.

We will be having brunch at the hair salon; they have a private area for me to set up in (its being catered). FH is ordering a hero sub and getting some snacks and drinks for his guys. I think you should keep it simple, nothing too heavy.

We had a similar timeline to yours, only had snacks in the bridal suite. Hummus, crackers, cheese, fruits and veggies. We were at the venue so could go get alcoholic drinks if we wanted but I stuck to water. Stay hydrated, especially once you get in your dress! I thought it ended up being perfect so we didn't overeat before cocktail hour and dinner. I personally wouldn't spend too much on food, I was too busy and anxious to eat much, but ask the people you'll be getting ready with what they think.

I'm providing mimosas while we get ready in the bridal suite, in addition to a fruit/cheese platter, various deli sandwiches, and donuts

Definitely provide food and drinks. I was in a wedding that didn't (every other wedding I've been in has) and we were all starving and ended up ordering sandwiches from the hotel bar while we were getting hair and makeup done.

Sandwiches, bagels/muffins, or a deli tray are all good ideas. I like mimosas too!

Also, my FH and I had our first date at a pizza place in town, and I'm surprising him by ordering the same pizza he ate that evening (his favorite) for him and his groomsmen with a special note just for him- sentimental but who doesn't love pizza?

We did. We got sandwich and cheese platters as well as mimosas for the ladies and bottled beer for the guys. Everybody really appreciated not being hangry during pictures and everything!

    Thank you everyone!

We picked up a nuggets tray and a fruit tray from Chick'Fil'A on our way to the venue. It was a big hit.

We are getting party platters for the room we are getting ready in and most likely having mimosas. Trays of meats, cheeses and fruit is something we can all just nibble through the day.

I got Panera bagels and fruit for the morning, and then had lunch catered before the photographer arrived. Each girl got a boxed lunch from a local place with a sandwich or wrap, soup or salad, and one other side. We had coffee, water, and mimosas all day as well.

Definitely get something protein-rich for lunch! If what the inn offers is a standard continental breakfast (i.e. lots of bread) I'd be starving by lunch time.
