So FMIL told me that a lot of guests will usually take centerpieces home with them. FH spent a lot of money on our lanterns and we want to keep them to use around our deck afterwards. So I figured I could have the dj make an announcement. But I also wanted something more incase people are out of the room during the announcement. So FMIL came up with the idea to make little cards to put at the table. I designed a little card that matches my invites and thought it looked really cute! Until MOH said that the wording is too confusing. She thinks that the "A special thank you from the Mr. & Mrs." is kinda giving the idea to take the centerpieces. My question is, what other saying could I use that is cute but gets the point across? Ill post a pick of what I had come up with.

Re word it .... the newly married couple or the new mr and mrs would like to thank you for not (maybe underline or bold not) taking the centerpieces...

I've taken centerpieces before, but only if I was specifically told that it was Ok (fresh flowers, or something that would otherwise go to waste).

I haven't heardof people taking them unless told they could.

At my first wedding, I went around to each table, handed out a raffle ticket, and raffled them off. It seemed like a good way to get out to each table to see everyone, in a fun way. :-)

Hiding the paper under the lanterns is a great idea. You could put: "Thank you for sharing our special day, but the centerpieces are not to take home" you could even sneak in "they're rented" in there.

I've definitely seen people taking them. I wouldn't do it unless I was specifically told to, but I can see people just assuming. However, we're usually talking about fresh flowers, not lanterns. I like the idea of putting a note (bold writing) under the lantern. That way it's not apparent unless someone tries.
