Am I overreacting? Me and my fiancé’s mom are super close and I wanted to pick out the dress she’s wearing with her. She took my future brother in laws girlfriend with instead and found one. Am I overreacting? Me and my fiancé’s mom are super close and I wanted to pick out the dress she’s wearing with her. She took my future brother in laws girlfriend with instead and found one. I like the dress but I’m just so frustrated that they got to go pick out the dress without me? She didn’t let me know until a week before and I already had picked up work hours and she insisted I take off which I couldn’t. She said she was going herself just to look and ended up going with my fbil girlfriend after her plans got cancelled. I had told her before that I wanted to take her to that same town and find a dress and she said it was too far away and we’d see.

She did try to include you but it seems she simply didn't plan ahead for your schedule. I don't feel this is a big deal.

I can understand being disappointed, but she invited you to go. Assuming you picked up hours on a day you don’t usually work, I think she did everything she could to include you outside of changing the day she had made plans to go.

I understand why you're hurt, but I would let it go. SHe did invite you, and it's possible FBIL gf and her were just out shopping together and she decided to look for the dress. I don't think she did it intentionally to upset you.

I'm going to make a guess that this is more about the brother in law's gf getting "chosen" vs. you. Has she been around longer than you/ do you think she's "the favorite"? If this is isolated, this is probably over-reading.

If not and you think you're the "less favorite", that can be tough. You can just try to find another activity and maybe try to find things that she likes to do as well. Focus on the next thing.
