flying my DJ to my destination wedding

Honestly, no reason to hide this thread IMO. You never know, there may be someone lurking this forum who might be trying to do the same thing. Thank God you're reconsidering. I've heard of that price for photography and videography, but not for a DJ.

That is a ton of money! Also just check with your venue. Many hotels/venues for destination weddings won't let you bring in your own vendors without paying a crazy fee. Just something to ask about.

I think it's a lot. I'd invite him as a guest.....see, it's kinda weird; if he's a guest, he pays his own way. If he's working, you pay for everything. Neither one of those things is weird, but when you put them both on the table?

If he is someone you'd invite, without the DJ part as a consideration, then invite him.

If not, don't.

But what you could do to mitigate some of the $$; hire a local company to do a total setup without a DJ and have him step into a turnkey situation. That's not as weird as it sounds; we have a lot of venues that have all the DJ equipment in place; the DJ just has to bring a laptop with his music.

But there is no way I'd spend 7000 for a DJ, and I know some fabulous ones.

Ya 7K is not normal for a DJ. I would find someone that your venue recommends and put what money you save to good use on other vendors.

I'm dealing with that now. Wish I knew sooner. My caters ( my brother, uncles, son ) are the only one who have kept their words. No to family and friends
