Flowers

Jeanette, on July 14, 2019 at 9:13 PM Posted in Planning 0 23
I am having trouble finding a florist. No one is interested in working with my flower choice. Saying there are many other flower choices to work with. And with a tight budget I was thinking about skipping out on real flowers and going fake. Michael's is having a 60%[and more] off sale on all spring/summer flowers . I was planning on not having alot of flowers anyway.

I know I shouldn't care about what people will say but if you were in my position would you use fake flowers?

That’s so aggravating!! I ended up going with silk flowers because when I went In I was told that dahlias did not grow in December. I have always wanted dahlias in my bouquet. They wanted me to use carnations! They would not listen to me at all and kept saying to use carnations. I ended up buying a custom silk bouquet from budgetbride.com they made exactly what I wanted. I’m happy with the experience. This is my bouquet.

What was your flower choice? Is it out of season? Florists will dig in their heels if the flower is out of season unless you’re spending a king’s ransom on flowers.

If it's out of season and out of budget there isn't anything you can do except fake flowers. All my decor will be fake so there's a chance my bouquet will be too.

Plenty of people use fake flowers to achieve the looks and not have to compromise on their choices. Honestly nobody really looks at the flowers!

    White hydrangea & babybreath.
He said he doesn't work with babybreath.
I also asked about carnations...my favorite flower. And he said he doesn't work with carnations. So meant other Flowers out there.

I wouldnt worry. Some fake bouquets look soo real. My future mother in law was a florist for many years and i know it hurts her for me to use fake flowers. The cost comparison with fake to real was such a huge difference i couldnt justify getting real ones. The woman doing mine does such an amazing job. And ill forever get to keep my bouquet looking just like my wedding day.

That’s ridiculous. Both of those are WEDDING flowers, they’re always available. I could buy those at my local grocery store. Fake is an option but honestly you could shop around and find those flowers at another florist.

What the heck kind of flowers does he do then?

Hydrangeas and babybreath are fairly common flowers for July (I’m 99% sure). Maybe try talking to another florist??

I have tried three so far. Either they didn't work with the flowers or not available.

Fake flowers are such a nice keepsake! I got the idea to use them long before I was engaged when I was a bridesmaid in my friend’s wedding (looking at them on my shelf right now). Price wise they’re almost always cheaper, and you don’t have to stress over how they’re going to look on your wedding day because they won’t wilt or die. You have a lot of options for buying them—I got mine during one of hobby lobby’s 50% off sales. They also sell beautiful pre-made bouquets there (which I didn’t realize until after I bought all my supplies lol, but it’s okay because I’m excited to put them together how I want them lol). Or any craft store will have everything you need. And there are several online stores/Etsy sellers who will put them together for you.

    No one looks at them
They will last & not wilt or die
    Cheaper.

    Thx.

I personally don’t like fake flowers but your situation sounds so frustrating that you need to work around it. I would however check closely the fake hydrangeas as they tend to look very fake. Your choice of flowers are so easy to work with that maybe buying yourself and having a friend do the arrangements is probably a good option specially if you want something simple and still have real flowers.

I just finished making my bouquet the other day. Fake flowers from lings moments. So far, I’ve only spent $50 on flowers for myself and the bridal party. And they look so real! I’ve had so much fun with these flowers lol. If no one will work with the flowers you’re wanting, go fake. No one will know the difference

If you feel like fake flowers are the better option, then go for it! Every couple is different, but there is no shame in saving money. The money you save on flowers can be put towards something more lasting. And even better, you can save those fake flowers as a memory and they’ll never look a day older!!!

Have you thought about bulk/wholesale flowers, and putting together your own bouquets? I think Costco sells hydrangeas and other flowers in bulk that you can have delivered. And there is a ton of stuff online you could find about putting together your own bouquets.

I hate fake flowers and really wanted real, but most florists that I looked at were about $1000. I found a few places that sell DIY "kits" where you put everything together yourself for a lot cheaper (like $350 total), and it is a lot easier to customize and make it what you want.

I am using fake flowers. For what I want, it just didn't make sense to go real. WAY too expensive!! And they die. I've found a seller on Etsy to make my bouquet, and my BMs bouquets with Real Touch artificial flowers. They are so beautiful, and they look and feel real!!
