LOL isn't that when they are getting the hang of walking? It might take 20 minutes to get her down the aisle but it sure would be cute...

You will probably need someone to help her go down the aisle. Either a ring bearer who is a little older, a bridesmaid, or the girl's parents. I wouldn't just send a 16-month old down the aisle on her own. Depending on how quickly she starts to walk, you may even need someone to pull her in a wagon or something like that. Just be prepared that she may have a temper tantrum and refuse to go down the aisle (can really happen with a kid of any age), so you may have to drop it last minute.

To be more helpful, I googled it and found this nicely worded response:

Generally, child attendants should be between the ages of four and seven. Children younger than four, unless extremely grown-up for their age, don't take direction (or deal with 150 strangers staring at them) very well. You stand a good chance of getting a shy flower girl who refuses to walk down the aisle or a ring bearer who ditches the pillow at the first pew.

No, but you might want to have someone helping her.

If you want them to be a flower girl have someone walk down with her. I don't think it's to young.

I don't think it's too young! My niece is 21 months and learned to walk just before 9 months.. Even if she couldn't walk great at 16 months and that's when my wedding was she 100% would still be our flower girl. Maybe have someone walk with her no not too young!

Someone will definitely need to help her. She may do fine at the rehearsal, but not at the ceremony. You never really know with kids that young.

It really depends on the child. Every child is different. If she's a steady walker and knows how to get from point A to point B, she should be ok. Maybe have a back up plan, like, if things don't go according to plan, someone can be ready to assist her if she needs. Most of the time, these moments are memorable and make for some adorable pictures and videos Smiley smile

I think it'd be okay if someone were helping her down the aisle, but 16 months is a bit young to get out there and walk down an aisle solo at a good enough pace to keep the flow of your ceremony and not get distracted..

My niece is 18 months. She's one of my flower girls. The other is 9 so she can toss the flowers, but the 18 month old will have a tiny wrist corsage and hold onto my mother's hand. They are bff's. My niece will follow my mom any wherever so it won't be too overwhelming for her to walk down the aisle.

My daughter was 18 months old when she was flower girl in my brother's wedding. It was in our backyard, so she was comfortable there, and we could practice. Our neighbor was kind enough to be waiting in the wings, and discretely escorted her to his adjoining yard to swing on their play set during the rest of the ceremony.

I think it's too young. But, one of my flower girls will be 18 month old lol. Did you get bamboozled into it too? Ours will be walking with 3 other girls so I'm hoping she can make it to the end quickly

    Mine are 6 and 2.

Ring bearers are 3 and 1 (like his birthday and 14 days before the wedding so freshly 1). It's gonna make for a real interesting time. Smiley smile

I'm having my sister's baby girl be my flower girl and she will only be 5 months old when I get married. We are going to have our other flower girl (who will be 5 1/2) pull her down the aisle in a wagonSmiley smile

I don't think it matters! It all depends on the child. I am having my cousins baby girl be the flower girl, she will be about 18 months in March for the wedding. My cousin said she will be fine walking down the isle, she's always happy and really good so there shouldn't be any issues. I was originally going to have her walk by herself and have my cousin or someone stand where they could be seen so she didn't get distracted. I have a big wedding party and have more girls than guys so I now have my junior bridesmaid walking with the flower girl down the isle!

If she has a helper, no. But expect the possibility of tears. Otherwise if you expect her to do it herself, unfortunately I'd say yes, thats too young.

Nope, that's how old mine will be! We're having her carry a grapevine ball with fairy lights inside instead of having to actually do anything with flowers.

We're using her parents as a backup to carry or walk with her if needed
