Flower Girl Pedal Toss Alternative?

Mandy, on February 25, 2010 at 3:19 PM

So our wedding venus is this great place by the river, and it's a "Green" venue. They are trying to be self sustaining. They even offered to buy 60 more "real" plates so that we didnt have paper and platic in the garbage. So my question is, what is a good alternative for our flower girls to throw?...

@Jessy D.: Was it water and glycerin? Because my bridesmaid and I found that recipe online last fall and tried it, but none of our leaves turned out right. They all turned brown.

Oh, Kayla, I love the ribbon streamers. I think I want to do that for our guests.

I'm the MOH in my best friend's wedding and we are using the streamer idea for guests, too, but adding a little flag on the handle that says "When the bride and groom walk your way, wave your streamer and shout "hooray!". Too fun!

Have you thought of eco friendly confetti? it's completely bio-degradable and is absorbed into the earth.

Our venue does not allow flower petals because the chemicals many are treated with can leach into the ground. These ideas have been very helpful.

    Hey there!

I'm having my lil' gal throw down some metallic silver star appliques in place of petals. They look beautiful and are way easy to clean up!

Well look at that I came for an alternative to the flower girl petal toss and finally figured out the perfect alternative to rice/ birdseed/ bubbles. Since my reception site won't allow us to do anything for fear of messing up their floors.... I bought the baskets for my flower girls today, I think I might just put a small flower arrangement in the baskets or bubbles... or both I don't know!

For anyone else that happens upon this feed like I did I just found in another feed that some flower girls carry pinwheels! My wedding is in march so that just goes hand in hand!

I'd be interested to hear what Mandy ended up going with. Ecofetti is definitely a great idea especially for a venue who is trying to be 100% green, its biodegradable and very easy for them to clean up. Ecoparti has a decent selection of colors too so you could still go with your wedding colors.
