It can. I was a flower girl once and mine was white. I don't think it matters either way.

I feel like she would look more like a junior bridesmaid if its the same color.

Either way. I had looked at a dress in my colors before deciding to put my flower girl in my old white flower girl dress with a matching sash to mine

Yes. It doesn't have to be white. My 2 year old niece (as she will be by then) will wear the bridal party colors.

Yes, or it could be a non-wedding color too. I've seen a FG wear a yellow dress at a wedding where the colors were peach, ivory, and gold. Though I suppose yellow is close enough to gold and compliments the other colors. I'm having my FG's (FH's twin nieces) wear a different shade of pink than my BM's but it is still in my wedding palette.

Absolutely! Or a complimenting color to the boys or you!

Why not? My 9 year old is wearing the same color as my bridemaids, and my 7 year old is wearing an ivory dress.

I think if the flower girl is the color of the bridal party, people will assume she is a junior BM.

It can be any color you want it to be. This is one of those things where, it's your day, you get to decide.

You could do white with accents of your bridesmaids color if you don't want to do the whole dress. Here's mine

Absolutely. If you wanted white you could also look at adding a belt in a wedding color.
