Flower Crowns, real or nah?

Elle, on February 7, 2018 at 9:51 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 22

I am having a small, barefoot bohemian mountain wedding. I want to wear a flower crown and was originally thinking real flowers, but the more I think about it and research into it, silk flowers seems like the better option, I could make it and my MOH's ahead of time and for WAY less than what a real one would cost, AND I could keep it and wear it again. I'm quite the dreadheaded hippy so wearing it again isnt a far fetched idea for me.

anyone else doing a flower crown? did you pick real or silk flowers and why?

I know a few brides did/are doing flower crowns here. I really like them and almost added them to my wedding, but they didn't really fit into the feel of the wedding.

I'm a big silk flower believer. You listed the reasons yourself... make them ahead of time, cheaper, and you'd wear it again. It's a great sentimental thing to keep and maybe even pass down someday.

I'm not doing a flower crown (although I LOVE them), but I want to wear flowers in my hair and will probably do a silk comb/clip, likely purchased off etsy because they have tons of beautiful options. I like the durability of silk flowers for hair, personally!

I plan on wearing a small flower crown. I was planning on using real flowers, but someone on here told me that depending on how I style my hair, that real flowers might weigh it down. So I think I might look into silk flowers for the crown

I wore a flower crown. My florist used real flowers, greenery and berries. It was only $60.

I am going to be wearing a flower crown and I’m using real flowers. My florist is charging $50 for it. We’re also having half crowns for our bridemaids. Regarding real vs silk debate, I think Either is fine, I am just really taken with real flowers. Show us pics of what you decide! 😊

My best friend is a total hippie and got married in Oct. I made her one that was similar to one she had gotten at a Phish show.

I've been debating this too, I think real flowers look so much better, but I can't figure out how to keep them from wilting half way through the day, so I'll probably end up doing silk or dried baby's breath.

Silk are most cost effective and you can keep them afterwards. With the silk ones they can be made ahead of time

Mine were all real and didn't wilt until a few days later. In my last pic I posted that was a selfie I took at the end of the night. Look at those roses - still as fresh as they were in the morning when I got ready.

I’m not doing a flower crown, but I’m planning on doing DIY silk bouquets. I’m interested in ordering from Afloral and I’m going to look up “recipes” for bouquets. If you’re going to do DIY, maybe you could find some recipes for crowns!

Yes! I didn't even think of that but durability is BIG for me. I'm pretty hard on things, I'm always doing handstands and cartwheels and rolling in the grass so silk would not fall apart on me! Haha

THats not a bad price at all! I donlove me some real ones, I was talking with my sister (my MOH) about making our bouquets real with wildflowers we pick but having the crowns be silk, I like that combo, best of both worlds.
    ill definitely share pictures!

That's so great to hear! Feel free to share photos :0)

How did you find your bouquet "recipe?" Did you order any real touch flowers? I'm not sure how they're going to feel and look in person/photos or if the regular silk flowers would do just fine.

    Thanks for sharing!!
