Florist wants to meet at a Panera. Is this normal??

Samantha, on June 6, 2019 at 11:25 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 20

Hello!

I've narrowed my search for a florist to 3 options that I want to meet with in person. I just tried to schedule a meeting with one of them and she suggested meeting in a Panera. Is this normal?? Why wouldn't they want me to go to their shop? Shouldnt I be able to look at their arrangements, etc? I'm wondering if I should consider this a red flag or not.

We have already had detailed conversations on the phone twice and she has sent me a proposal.

Thanks!

My first florist we met at a Panera actually lol I think it's completely normal. It's essentially a business meeting and that is easily conducted there. She brought her laptop and typed up a quote while discussing with me what I wanted. We didn't end up going with her because she was a bit pricey but it was completely professional

We met up with our photographer at a local coffee shop. I don't think it's super unusual. Do you know for sure that the person has a shop? If they mostly work from home I could see them wanting to meet elsewhere. I suppose it's a little weird they wouldn't want to meet where the flowers are to show examples and stuff but I wouldn't consider it a deal breaker, especially if it's just an initial meeting.

I met my florist at my venue because her shop was so far outside the city. Panera sounds totally normal. Plus ya'll can get some lunch Smiley smile

Seems normal. Probably just wants a casual place to speak to with you

Its normal she will probably just discuss what you are looking for and then scheduled a follow up at the shop t show you her ideas.

She’s not going to have wedding arrangements in her shop most likely anyway and if she does they might not be your style but for someone out there it is. Pictures will be a lot more helpful than seeing projects that may or may not be in progress!

I dont think it's weird. Maybe she has a portfolio of her work rather than having tons of wedding pieces readily available in her shop?

I don't think it's odd. Some florists have really tiny shops and are busy with stuff everywhere. When I met my florist there was barely any room to walk because she was preparing for a floral show that weekend. Also, you don't really get to see their arrangements, even if you went to a shop.

We are meeting our florist at a Starbucks, our DJ at a Starbucks, our officiant at a Starbucks, and had a video conference with our videographer. If they have good reviews & pictures, I think you're fine. Even if they have a shop, they might not have arrangements set up or ready unless they had a wedding the next day.

I had my first meeting with my florist at Panera also. (Must be the go to meeting spot! lol) She brought her laptop and a questionnaire form. She asked me questions about myself and FH, and details of the wedding. Once she started getting an idea of what I wanted, she suggested certain flowers and showed me what they looked like. She also showed her portfolio of work. I think it's pretty common to have meeting like this.

I met a florist at a Starbucks. We didn’t end up going with her, but I don’t think it’s weird to meet at a Panera or any other restaurant.

Initially, I would have said that does seem odd but clearly I'm wrong.

This is normal. I only had one meeting with my florist and that was at the venue because it was a semi-DW and I asked her to meet me there to go over the design layout. Before then, we only communicated via email. I saw her portfolio of weddings she had done and so I knew that I liked her style. I then sent her a powerpoint of my wedding style and examples of what I wanted. She did an amazing job for my wedding.

As others have said, it is very unlikely she would actually have arrangements in her shop for you to see. As long as you can see a portfolio of her work you'll be fine.

My friend is a photographer and she does client meetings at coffee shops because she doesn't have dedicated "workshop" or a storefront. I don't think this is strange at all, your florist may simply work out of her house or it might be very small.

This seems normal. I met with a couple of florists before choosing one, and I went to their shop. However, none of them had fresh arrangements for browsing. They all asked me to send my Pinterest page or inspiration photos to them, and I'm sure your florist will have a ton of insporation pictures and ideas if you don't

That's pretty normal. as long as she has a portfolio or pictures to show you, it shouldn't ne a problem. We met a DJ (that we didn't hire) at a Starbucks, so did our photographer. We met the DJ that we hired at a hotel lobby. LOL

I met my DJ at a Panera, I don't think that fact alone is a red flag. Have there been any other red flags that are making you concerned?
