Florist quote

Chip, on July 12, 2017 at 11:27 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 27

How long would you wait to get a quote from a florist? I mean, I understand that a florist is more a la carte and highly variable, but I had a scheduled appointment a week ago today and still have not received said quote, even after they called me today to say I would have it in my email by the end of today. I'm not picky, I just asked fot white and ivorytcream flowers and that lilies be incorporated, went to this one first because they're closest to the venue. Wait for the quote or move on at this point?

I don't have any advice but my florist gave me my quote on the spot when I met with her. Not sure if that's common or not tho because I only went to one.

I would email and thank them for their time and say that since the deadline they gave you to have the quote by has passed, that you will be pursuing other vendors.

I mean, that's kind of what I thought. If they can't even give me a quote in a timely manner before I give then my business, how will they act if I hire them? This is really the last vendor I needed and I really don't care all that much about flowers, so maybe time to move on.

If you're dead set on using them as a vendor, I would inquire if with the shop if they sent something. I had one of my florists I was researching switch to a brand new 'quote system' that wasn't delivering emails when she thought it was. It actually ended up being an IT issue with the new system that she was working with.

Outside of that, if you're over them and would rather research elsewhere, Daniella's email is appropriate.

Where you requesting any out of season flowers? That can be the only reason why it would take as long. If your just doing something in season and not to crazy i would talk to other florists and get quotes.

I am getting married 6 hours away from my home.. so WW was helpful to find vendors and I got quotes back within the day and that's with their response and letting them know exactly what I wanted. Honestly if you've waited a week I would be worried that they don't care enough about your business. Just my thoughts.

I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it, but even though you spoke with them today, it is currently peak season for all wedding vendors, so they may be playing catch up? I would give it until tomorrow and then move on.

It depends on how much you really want this particular florist. To me a week is a while, but it's also wedding season for vendors. Reach back out to them if you really like their work, if not I would move on to the next vendor.

My florist gave me the quote when I met with her in person. We walked through all of the typical stuff people get, I showed her some Pinterest pics of stuff I liked, and she told me item by item an estimate for cost (so I know in case I want to cut or add later) and gave me a copy of it all at the end of our meeting.

Unless you want something super specific (which it doesn't sound like) it's weird to me that you are waiting this long.

We meet with two different florists. The first one we meet with in June/July of last year (I do not remember specifically) and the other end of January. I received a quote from the second one a day later. I still have yet to receive my quote from the one I meet with over a year ago. I have emailed multiple times and she has always responded, just hasn't given me a quote yet..... I booked the other florist anyways as I felt she got more of my vision.

I'd generally fall on the side of giving the florist the benefit of the doubt. PP have pointed out that it is peak wedding season, and in addition, most florists have the potential any time to deal with an unexpected spike in funeral work/etc.

That being said, if you check with them tomorrow and they still don't have a quote for you, I'd move on, especially since they told you that they'd get you the quote today. It's been a week. They didn't meet their own deadline, and if there isn't some technological issue or a wrong email address or something, it's off-putting that they didn't get you your quote in a timely manner. Quotes generally shouldn't take much time to put together and return to the client.

I would use another florist & honestly, I think the sooner you book one, the better.

It took 2 weeks for one florist to get back to me. They warned me that it may take a little while simply because they were in the height of wedding season and they were a very popular florist. However, the one I signed with gave me a quote while I was in the shop.

Mine gave me a general proposal the same day I initially emailed her off Pinterest photos I sent her and descriptions I gave her.

When I met with her in person a couple weeks later, she updated the quote as she sat with me.

Since it is wedding season I'd give them the benefit of the doubt, but only another day or two. Unless you have complicated ideas with all out of season flowers (which it doesn't sound like you do) then it shouldn't take very long to build you a general quote.

My florist took forever getting a quote to me. As in it took over a full month. However, he told me it would take a while considering Easter and Mother's Day in addition to wedding season. My mother used him for all her holiday and party centerpieces over the years, so he knows what looks well in our house and what she preferred. Ultimately, I knew I was going with him regardless but needed to know if I could afford flower crowns for the flower girls and other extra decorations.

We actually sat with our florist went over all of our ideas and he stepped out of the office and came back with pricing on the spot. I would reach out to them and ask if they could send it. Also, there is no harm in getting quotes from other florists in the meantime.

I really don't think I asked for anything crazy, all I specifically asked for was white/ivory colors and to incorporate oriental lilies. Nothing extravagant, only bouquets, altar flowers, and pew/aisle decorations - let her take the reins on literally everything else for fillers and greenery

I emailed/called 3 and one was within a day or two but the other two said they were slammed with it being the middle of wedding season so took about a week. All I asked for was personal flowers (no centerpieces or ceremony decorations). But I checked in every few days so I knew they weren't ignoring me. I would just email them to touch base and ask how the quote is coming along.

The first florist gave us a quote on the spot at the appointment. Then we met with another florist right before Mother's Day and it literally took her over two weeks to get us a quote. We called and asked how long it would be and she got rude with us. We went with the first florist.
