Florist or Diy?

Chloe, on August 12, 2019 at 2:01 PM Posted in Style and Décor 1 21
So i’ve been going back and forth with the idea of hiring a florist or using a DIY site that have been getting more popular lately. I spoke to a florist in my area and we clicked right away and she seems to get my vision for about $1500 but on the other hand if I go to a place like Costco or online like bloominous.com I feel like i’ll spend around $1000. I really don’t want to be thinking about storage for the flowers if I order them and then having to make all the arrangements and bouquets myself (my anxiety is through the roof!)🙈. What would you guys do!?

Personally, I hired a florist. I’m not great with DIY and I didn’t want to have to worry about getting even more stuff to our venue. I think as long as the florist is in your budget, I’d do that.

I've thought about this too and honestly I just don't want to worry about having to put the flowers together the night before and then having to store them. I think hiring a florist is a little more convenient and one less thing you'll need to worry about.

I’m doing diy, but we have minimal flowers- my bouquet, two MOH bouquets, and 2-3 boutonnières. I haven’t decided on centerpieces yet, but most likely just greenery. I wouldn’t take on the task of multiple centerpieces, bouquets, boutonnières, corsages, etc because I’d feel way too stressed and it’s not worth $500 savings to me.

If the savings was 500 for me, I would have chosen a florist. We are DIYing our flowers from Sam’s and my arrangements are pretty simple. But that is saving us 2-3K which is definitely worth it to me.

I am in this same situation. I actually went through the whole process of designing my arrangements with Bloominous. Was definitely cheaper than I was expecting and I’m actually excited about putting them all together (I’m fairly crafty and have a handful of people excited to help) However, the part I’m most concerned about is transporting everything from our house to the venue (45 minute drive). Because of this, I am actually meeting with a florist tomorrow. If they can stay within the budget I had for Bloominous, I am going to switch to the florist since they will deliver the flowers to the venue. It will be a huge worry off my shoulders.

I hired a florist because I prefer the look and feel of real flowers. I didn't want to deal with storing fake flowers, or trying to find good flowers in the winter.

We ended up finding a fabulous florist 5 minutes from our home and she came in right at budget. Smiley laugh

That’s amazing!! Storing flowers is what makes me nervous since they would be delivered 2-3 days before the wedding and I do not have a green thumb at all lol

We hired a florist but are also incorporating DIY. Our florist is amazing and totally on board with our mix of DIY and her expertise.

The florist I spoke with told me that she’d be happy to order our blooms for a DIY aspect as well. My grandma and aunt love make floral arrangements as a hobby and they really want to make our centerpieces for the reception so I think its a win/win!

    Hi!

I'm doing mine DIY! I decided to do DIY because of the price difference and then I know for sure it's exactly the types of flowers that I want. My mum and I did the flowers for my brothers wedding so we have a little bit of a "background" on what we need to do and pre flower care.Though it can be overwhelming I say do it but only if you want to Obv. I ordered off FiftyFlowers and got all of my flowers for our 15 centerpieces, Bouquets, Boutonnieres, Corsages for Just under $950. See my brothers centerpieces my mom and I made!

I’m a diy Bride. My Mom had a Floral and Gift shop, so I have a bit of knowledge.

I just did simple arrangements that can be broken down easily if need be.

I also purposely didn’y try to create anything beyond my skill set.

I’m planning to post pictures once it’s all over.

Alayna, did you do your own draping? or did it come with the venue?

My wedding was Saturday August 24th. This is how our flowers turned out. My mum and maid of honor helped. They came out beautiful. I purchased the flowers from fifty flowers website!
