Florist Fees

Brigit, on April 27, 2015 at 2:15 PM Posted in Planning 0 39

So i got a Quote from my Florist

She has a $200 delivery and set up fee, do you ladies think that is high- what is yours charging?

the total before taxes and fees was $1357 with tax and the fees that brings it up to $1642... Not terrible but its more than i was hoping to spend.

the BM bouquets are $100 that seems high what are you ladies paying for those?

Other than that the bouts are $10 a piece and my tables are only $18 except for the Card and guestbook tables which are $55 each right now.

There is about $150 of extras that i am going to try to get reduced (like my FG flower crowns and Ceremony Decor).

I can't speak on the bouquets and bouts since mine are made out of map paper. But $200 for a set up fee doesn't seem that outrageous to me. With flowers, I feel like there's a lot more care involved and playing with petals, etc. Plus expenses to secure everything and travel.

My florist cost makes me want to gag. But we are also renting centerpieces and such from her and have 8 BMs and 2 Jr Bm. And FMIL wanted all this crazy stuff. I just recently emailed her and took a bunch of stuff off without telling FH and FMIL because I know they will NEVER notice. It should save us over $600 too. So your cost sounds great to me!

I think that's actually a decent price for delivery and set-up.

Mine is $148 so $200 doesn't sound extreme. Although your BM bouquets sound high to me. But I guess it's because of the flowers you want. Depending on what I decide, (hydrangeas or hydrangeas, roses, and dusty miller) mine will be $37 or $48.

The fees sound about right. I have a different venue for my reception so I have two delivery fees. No fun.

@alicia-yea i was thinking that they were a little high, i will need to talk to her on the BM bouquets, i was thinking $75 was fair. this is only the first quote, i am sure that i can get it to come down. this price has everything that i want.

It also includes $80 on mums to line the ceremony which i plan on taking out. so that will get me closer to the $1500 that i planed on.

I'm in NYC so this sounds great to me- although my florist isn't charging delivery, but it's a short distance between her shop and the location.

I think ours is about 120 for delivery, set up, and breakdown. I thought it was pretty cheap!

They would only be doing set up, and i have a DOC who brings people with her so i could possibly ask for them to drop it to $100 because it was for 2hrs setup.

ETA: and included pinning Bouts onto BP and such, i've been to a few and never seen the florist do that. I guess its nice but not really necessary.

I just booked my florist this weekend. Two bride bouquet, 7 BM bouquet, 9 boutonniere, flowers for cake and a few loose bundles for decorating and she gave me a range from $400-$600. I don't know how much delivery would be on top of that though, I would guess around $50-$100. We would do the set up though.

Set up takes longer than most of us think; I see it a lot because I get to weddings so early......and it's pretty technical to get everything there in good shape......

$200 delivery/set-up fee is completely normal and it's something most professional florists add to your order. The BMs bouquets are within reason (assuming they're not tiny carnation pieces, lol). It may be worth it to you to ask for something in the $65 range (I don't know how many BMs bouquets you need, so it's really up to decide if the $35/bouquet savings is worth it). There are always cheaper stem alternatives and using them should not mean your general vision and color scheme are thrown off.

Do I understand your post correctly? Are you really paying $18 per centerpiece? What are you getting for $18 because that might be the lowest quoted price I've seen.

If you're looking for a way to cut the ceremony decor, try and repurpose reception decor. For example, lots of brides want two large arrangements flanking the altar. Have your florist do identical card and guest book pieces. Use them at the ceremony and then have them moved back to the reception.
