Floral Vendor not responding, what to do?

Jolie, on December 13, 2018 at 10:28 AM Posted in Planning 0 15

Let me preface this with I know the holidays are close... I had a phone consultation with a florist on November 9th. He told me a couple weeks and he would have an estimate for me. I contacted him at the end of November, no response and again this past Monday, no response. It's so annoying because I really like his floral designs, but he's giving me nothing here. To me a couple weeks is like 2-3 maybe 4. This is now week 5. Is that ridiculous, or should I just wait it out? Should I forget it and move on, beings that the new year will bring more and more vendors booking up for October?

Do they have social media where you can reach out to if you really love them?

Yeah, MrsV has a good point. If they have social media, I would reach out on the platform, especially if they've been posting recently.

I would give him one more call - third time's the charm and all that - and if he doesn't respond, then I would move on. You've given him more than enough time and you've tried to reach out as many ways as possible.

What sort of flower pieces are you looking to have?

I know he has an instagram I have been stalking to even see if he has been busy with weddings. He seemed to busy in november, but now he only posted about 1 wedding in december. I can check if he has a facebook.

Would it be okay to comment on an instagram post complimenting it and saying I would love to work with him just have not heard back? Or facebook, if he has one. I guess I can call, we just had done everything via email exchange before.

If it's possible to send him a DM, I would do that first. That way, you're not outing him for being unresponsive. Same thing with Facebook. And I would try calling. Emails, once read, can get lost in the mix of an inbox. A phone call adds the sound to it, and makes it a harder to ignore, in my opinion.

I would look for other floral vendors just so you have options.

I would look at other vendors too. Many florists do the same thing with their flowers/designs so I’m sure you would find something else that you like! I had the same issue with a venue. We were ready sign a contract with them and then we never heard from them again...out of no where

It's so frustrating! I went through one string of floral vendors that were too pricey, started being firm on my budget around the time I got to him and 2 others. The one I put on backburner cuz I liked this one that hasn't responded, and the other had someone else book them like a week after I had a consultation with her. Ughhh. I guess I will start another string of looking.

Yes, I am gonna have to start a new string of floral vendors now, if I call and he has no answers for me. Hard part is remembering who all I contacted before and axed. Lol I have so many emails

Honestly, Costco and pricechopper has pretty nice flowers too if you are just looking for things to decorate. I don’t know how “all out” with the flowers you are going, but they might be a decent option

I need someone to make certain arrangements/bouquets. I am doing bouts/corsages/small aisle jar decor myself via Wegmans floral department. This was the easiest cost saver I could accomplish with the storage space needed for them and time wise. That in itself, is sometimes an issue with some florists. Some don't care, others try to say you have to use everything from them which I think is stupid. If they can't meet my pricing budget then why can't I save my own money and DIY.

I had a similar experience with the first florist I had a consultation with. We sat with her for over an hour discussing our needs and wants; I thought it was an overall good meeting. She never followed up with a quote. When I called her, she needed me to send her pictures all over again; which we brought with us to the consultation. It was almost like we never met. After a couple more conversations, it was like pulling teeth to get information from her. So I never contacted her again nor have I heard from her.
We have a consultation with another florist at the end of the month and I'm hoping that goes well as I would really like to have our florist locked in sooner than later.
Move on and find another florist who will be receptive and professional.

Omg that's so annoying. My thing is I simply don't have time to go meet with each and every florist. So it's like if we spoke on the phone and I sent pictures and told you what I wanted they should be able to figure it out! I can't believe she lost your photos! How unprofessional. I guess it isn't pulling teeth for me, just dead air on his end. I will call tomorrow, if no message or call back of I'm sorry I have it or I'll do it this week I am gonna start contacting others! Your wedding is even sooner than mine so I know the feelings of wanting to lock stuff in!

I would look for someone else. No vendor should be too busy to respond to a phone call, text, or email. To me, this says he's unreliable and I wouldn't want to risk the added stress his lack of communication could cause.
