Floral budget & example photos

RY, on January 21, 2021 at 2:57 AM Posted in Style and Décor 2 27

Hello,

I have a budget for about $2500 for florals. I don't really know what that means. I feel like it'd help me to know visually how weddings would like for X amount.

I was wondering if anybody would be willing to share their wedding day photos of ceremony & reception space and how much the floral arrangements came out to be with the bouquet, arch, centerpieces, etc.

Thank you (-:

Unfortunately this completely varies based on the type of flowers, size of arrangements, location and how experienced the florist is. So I paid a little over $1,000 but I also had a new florist so she charged a lot less. I got a quote from someone else for the exact same thing for over $4,000 because that florist was much more experienced. I wish I would have gone with someone in the middle because my florist was awful, but I also didn't want to pay $4,000.

That’s too bad! We’re meeting up with the florist this weekend & I have several ideas but I’m terrified it’s going to go over our budget!

I honestly didn’t realize how expensive flowers would be! I live in NY and wedding is in NJ. We were quoted from around 3,000-4,000. I would say it depends on what your style is, how many centerpieces are needed, and amount of people in bridal party.
    .
.Here’s one quote we were given to give you an idea. This was the cheapest quote we received. I couldn’t add others because the PDF access expired...Also I didn’t know this but the centerpieces are rentals. So you wanna make sure no one leaves with them or you’ll have to cover the cost!..I’m looking to skip floral centerpieces and going with candles or something else. That way we may be cutting cost and don’t have to worry about people taking centerpieces (I know not all people do but know our families are already talking about who’s getting one 🤣)...Again this probably be different depending on where you live and the style but thought it could give you an idea.Floral budget & example photos 1

I'd sit down and think about what florals are important to you for your wedding day. After that, contact florists that you're interested in, and let them be aware of your strict budget.

For us, we knew we didn't want anything too fancy or fussy, and we didn't want to go over $1k since they would just be thrown away after the wedding. I contacted a florist I really liked and her online form actually had a spot where we filled in our budget. She contacted me and asked us what all we wanted and quoted us. It came out to be a little over budget, but she worked with us to bring the price down. We eliminated florals that weren't necessary (only groom is wearing boutonniere, moms and gmoms are carrying single flower instead of bouquet etc.)

It also depends on what time of year your getting married, and what flowers/greenery you're wanting. Our wedding vision is very simple and minimal, so that helped out with keeping our cost down.

This is going to vary so much. Things like geographic location, experience of the florist, season, the type of flowers you want (in-season vs out-of-season; some types of flowers are more expensive than others like lillies vs carnations). Your best bet, as others have said, is to figure out what you want and get quotes from various florists. I would maybe categorize your wants into must-haves vs nice-to-haves. Even things like style of bouquet make a cost difference (cascade style tends to be more expensive than a simple nosegay bouquet due to added time and labor). Shop around and see who you like and can get you something you're happy with at your budget. If you're flexible on things like type of flowers, a good florist should be able to help come up with a plan that will work in your budget.

Every city has different pricing. Large cities will generally cost more than small towns so there is no one size fits all. Take a look at 'yourcityweddingflorist" on Instagram or thumbtack.com.

That’s about how much I spent. I had a huge bouquet, arch full of beautiful flowers (hydrangeas, roses, posies, poppies - almost no greenery/filler), votive vases on 7 tables and a boutineer (sp?). This was for a tiny wedding. Again, I chose almost no filler and went heavy on the flowers but it adds up.

As many others have said, this can vary greatly depending on several factors and the pandemic doesn't help! I would sit down with a couple different florist and explain your vision (have photos of the types of arrangements you have in mind) and your budget and see what they come up with.

Just for reference, I am in Las Vegas and I'm spending $1,320 for [1] bridal bouquet, [1] MOH bouquet, [2] petals and baskets for flower girls, [2] corsages and [6] boutonnieres. I will be adding 20-30 mini flower arrangements to go with my candle center pieces so my total will range from $1,970-$2,400 depending on if we do 2 or 3 mini arrangements at each table.

The best thing to do is research the type of florals you want and meet with florist. Show them what you want and they will tell you what that costs.

As everyone has mentioned - it completely depends on the city, florist, who you want to have flowers, flowers used etc.

Just for you to get an idea (flowers are my main decor, so I have a lot of pieces), I'm using an independent florist who recommended white hydrangeas, lavender roses, purple stocks, purple tulips, and greenery based on the photos below that I sent.

The total is a little under $4,000 with set up and delivery for a bridal bouquet, 5 bridesmaids bouquets, 10 boutonnieres (groom, groomsmen, fathers, brothers), 7 corsages (mothers, grandmothers, sisters), ceremony arch (re-purposing for sweetheart table), simple aisle decoration, simple welcome sign piece, 4 tall centerpieces, 8 low centerpieces, guest book table arrangement, cocktail table pieces, and flowers for my cake. Hope this helps you get an idea!

Hi Rachel! My florist in PA (not a big city, florist is a small business, great reputation, very experienced) had similar pricing as Meghan posted. $150 is typical for brides bouquet, $85-100 per bridesmaid bouquet. I had roses, orchids and calla lilies in summer.

If you want lots of cascading florals on your wedding cake, looking at $150. We did minimal wedding cake florals, but we had white orchids that are a more expensive tropical flower as we are located in PA. I think we paid $100 for cake flowers. We had a large floral chuppah that cost approximately $2000. All setup and tear down was included. We had amazing customer service.Floral budget & example photos 8Floral budget & example photos 9

Definitely depends what kind of flowers you want and where you're located. I'm in a fairly expensive city, and our florist had a minimum of $4000 not including tax and labor that we had to meet in order to book them for our wedding (they were considered a mid-range florist, not high end). Some of the high-end florists gave us quotes for $9-10k, but we went with the mid-range florist and ended up paying $6000 all included. That being said, taxes and labor fees were close to $2000, and our chuppah alone was $1000. Aside from the chuppah, we had my bouquet, 4 bridesmaids bouquets, 7 boutonnieres, 2 flower girl wands, 1 corsage, 11 floral arrangements for centerpieces, flowers for cake decor, flowers as chair decor for ceremony, large floral arrangement on escort card table, and small florals on cocktail tables. I never imagined that we would end up spending so much on flowers!

Hahaha my family is the same. It's cultural too I guess but I believe no flowers are left around the time the wedding is are over..!

I'm in northern VA near D.C. with my venue down an hour or so from where I am.

I guess the thing I forgot to add in my post would be where I am hoping to use the flowers:

my bouquet, MoH bouquet (reuse for bouquet toss), groom's bout, best man's bout, 6 bouts/corsage (mom, dad, FMIL, FFIL, grandma, FGpaIL), flower girl, arch (reuse for sweet heart table), cake (small 1 layer), ceremony aisle, centerpieces (but we're doing a bud vase arrangement so using only a handful of stems at 17 tables), and other filler decors!

These are my hopes for florals -

my bouquet, MoH bouquet (reuse for bouquet toss), groom's bout, best man's bout, 6 bouts/corsage (mom, dad, FMIL, FFIL, grandma, FGpaIL), flower girl, arch (reuse for sweet heart table), cake (small 1 layer), ceremony aisle, centerpieces (but we're doing a bud vase arrangement so using only a handful of stems at 17 tables for a wildflower plucked from the field vibe), and other filler decors! My biggest focus will be the arch, my bouquet, and centerpieces!

You can also look into using some of the arrangements from the ceremony at the reception. Some florists also recommended using the bouquets at our sweetheart table

Thank you so much for the visual reference!!!

I guess having only a MoH and Best man (with other girl and guys as our VIP guest who join us for tea time while getting ready & for faux bridal party photos) is saving me $$$!

How much was for an arch like yours?

    TY

My SIL got married in Northern VA and she used Rick’s Flowers.

Here’s their info sheet to help give you some kind of idea on pricing. https://www.ricksflowers.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/ricksflowers_generalpricing_web.pdf
