Floating Candles frustration UGH

JuneBride2014, on December 5, 2013 at 6:08 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 13

So I have done a very unscientific study on floating candles to see how long they should last, so I know if it is going to be a problem during reception. I read that it is suppose to last at least five hours the longest i could keep mine lit was 45 minuets and I have tried a few different kinds. Maybe I'll just have someone with a lighter going around the whole night re-lighting the candles lol

Guess I have to much time on my hands today that is what happens when I have two days off in a row lol

I had no issues. We had our "test" going for over 4 hours and it was still fine. We bought that one at micheals and then bought in bulk on amazon.

I saw somewhere if you put bubble wrap under flowers it helps them stay floating...maybe you could pin some bubble wrap to floating candles to help them stay lit? My problem with them is they usually get water in them and go out.

Did you trim the wick? A lot of times, if you don't trim the wick, the candle will burn unevenly, and you end up with a floating candle that gets extinguished by the water. It should only be about 1/8-1/4" long or so.

Not to hijack your post, but the table numbers you have, are those lumineers (just the paper) or is it wrapped around a vase?

If you freeze candles, they burn longer.
