Flip Flops for the dance floor

Michelle, on April 5, 2016 at 3:07 AM Posted in Planning 0 28

My guest count is 90. I want to order flip flops for my guest to slip on during the reception. How many should I purchase and how many different sizes should I purchase.

Not everyone will dance. That being said, none of the weddings I've been to did anyone ever have or wear flip flops. Everyone came prepared already in comfortable shoes. I think adults are reasonable enough to realize that they will be dancing at a wedding and if they want to take of their shoes, so be it. It's an unnecessary expense, IMHO.

I know there have been threads about this before. If I remember correctly, people have had different experiences with how many to get. Get the most of the popular sizes. Wait for old navy's $1 sale and bring friends with you.

Personally, I wouldn't bother, but Dollar Tree has them, in stores and online.

Honestly, I personally have always thought that idea was "tacky" because I honestly thing weddings are very formal and being bare foot or. In flip flops takes away from that and I say that because I went to a wedding where hey had flip flops and no one really wore them, they just took them home and the size variety is different at every party lol

I think this would be a waste of money. I've never worn the flip flops the bride has given me. I got barefoot.

I'm doing them and I think they are a wonderful idea. Not everyone will want one but those who do want to kick their heels off will appreciate it. With 90 guests, I would only get about 20-25 pairs. I'm getting mine from Old Navy ranging from size 6 to size 10. The majority will be size 7 - size 9 because that's what I think most people wear.

I don't think that dancing with flip flops on will be a good time because I am awkward and uncoordinated as it is. I would much rather dance with the shoes I have brought.

I agree with the others, this is a total waste. But to answer your question the dollar store has them for $1, you'll have to visit several locations.

Sally, weddings aren't always formal. But maybe I missed the law making that mandatory.

That being said, I don't think most people will use the flip flops. If you're set on getting them, I wouldn't get more than 10. Maybe women's sizes 7-10, since no men will wear them.

Nope, not gonna wear flip-flops when I'm dressed up. I will ditch the shoes by 10 but no one will know with the long dress. But fdil is getting them for all her girls. So do what you want, but I think I would only buy maybe half the number of guests. PS.... what are they supposed to do with their shoes, etc. ? I hope nobody loses one.

I would say 10-20 pairs max. I personally like the gesture of having something to keep your feet comfortable after a couple hours of dancing in 4 inch heels. I think it's a much better alternative to grown women in gowns dancing barefoot on the dance floor. Granted, even with flip flops you will still get those people who insist on dancing barefoot but maybe there won't be as many.

I only bought them for our wedding party because the girls would have heels on and I got them at Old Navy. Most people I don't think would want to take their own shoes off.

I was able to get mine at the Dollar Tree, they came in assorted sizes in cases of 12. So I got a few colors to mix it up. They were $1 a pair so it was pretty cheap :-)

If I was a guest I wouldn't wear them. I didn't even have them at my own wedding because I knew I would go barefoot and that is my preference once it gets late. So I would say less than half of the women on the guest list and dollar store!

I went to one wedding that had a basket of flip-flops by the dance floor. Some people wore them (and a select few were irrationally excited about them.) If you really want to provide them, I think a safe bet would be half the amount of female guests. 7, 7 1/2, and 8 are the highest selling women's shoe sizes. I'd do mostly those sizes and go from there.
