Flats? Heels? Or both?

I'm trying to decide on shoes to get for my wedding next March. Originally I had been thinking about wearing heels for the ceremony and pictures and then switching to flats for the reception. However, now I've read that that can cause issues with your dress dragging on the ground if you switch from heels to flats. I have a floor length A-line dress which will need to be hemmed and will probably be bustled during the reception. So now I'm tossing around the idea of just skipping the heels altogether and wearing flats for the whole wedding.

I'm really don't wear heels that often because I have back problems so if I went for a heel it would probably be a 2 inch heel max. I'm only 5'2" and I'm 9 inches shorter than my FH so there's going to be a big height difference either way.

Anyone have any experience with this? I'm just kind of unsure and was hoping to get some other opinions.

I'm wearing 2 inch heels. Originally I was only going to do flats because I wanted to be comfortable all day but when I found my dress, the consultants there said that because of my dress, it'd be cheaper to at least a 2 inch heel so that's what I'm doing

I'm also getting married next March! I haven't found which shoes yet, but they will definitely be flats. I never wear heels, so I don't want to be uncomfortable (or trip!) on my wedding day.

I have to wear heels for the ceremony & pics. They can only hem it so much because of the detailing. It'll be bustled so its shorter for the reception & then I can wear flats.

I am wearing heels for the ceremony and then switching into my comfy dancing boots for the reception (I am from Texas. We wear boots when we dance)

    Both

Heels for ceremony and flats for reception. I'm going to put them under our sweetheart table and change as soooon as I sit down.

I'm doing heels for the ceremony and platform sandals/wedges for the reception. I almost never wear heels as I have issues with my feet. But once I found the platform sandals and tried them out they were sooo comfy I felt I could wear gorgeous heels (same height as wedges) just for ceremony because it's just a short time and I'll be walking slow with someone on my arm

This is my concern too. I think I'm just going with flats, something comfortable. Or maybe even a very small wedge. FH is 10" taller than me, so unfortunately I'll be pretty short (I'm wearing 4" boots in my profile picture)! But comfort is key! The less stress the better.

I wanted to wear heels but didn't want to be uncomfortable. I ended up buying small heels from Macy's and have worn them around to break them in. Thankfully they are pretty comfortable.

You should wear what you're comfortable in. If you don't normally wear heels, it might not be worth it to start, unless you want to put the practice in.

I bought heels and had flats to switch in to, but I kept getting pulled into different pictures, so I never put the flats on.

I literally just got off the phone with the lady who will do my gown alterations. She recommended platform flip flops or sandals. I don't know how they look, but I'm considering those.

Wedges, best of both worlds...a little height, and more comfortable than heels

I'd either hem them for your flats (as long as your heels aren't super high, or maybe split the difference between the two heights.

    Wedges are a great alternative!
