I saw a tutorial for a ribbon chandelier made with flagging tape. I didn't use it because of the color choices. But, I'm interested in opinions also.

Flagging tape is the tape used in construction to rope off areas and the wedding industry's best kept secret. You can get it in limited colors but for cost of pennies compared to ribbon. Used in place of ribbons when you need a lot of ribbon. If you see pics of wedding decorations using a lot of ribon it is probably flagging tape.

I tried the chandelier with ribbons and did not like and I tried a champagne glass chandelier but did not like it either. Both things I tried with ribbon but now considering a large scale project with flagging tape

So the end of it is a bit wrinkled from being stored as you can see... i also often tear it bc i forget to bring a knife out in the field with me. I also stored this one badly. I left it loose before throwing it in the box I keep it in before going back and taping the end to the roll.

I think that if you store it neatly (ie not crumpled) it should be okay. Keep in mind the colors are typically bold or fluorescent to make them easy to see.

ETA: It does wrinkle easier than ribbons though. I can create wrinkles in it by rolling in my fingers a bit. So if you tied a knot and then untied it there would definitely be wrinkles. If you handle it relatively gently though it should be fine.

I had never heard of it until someone posted about it a few months ago. Maybe this will help:

Thank You Kelly! That was a great help. The reason I asked is because I am going to do a lot of hanging with it and want to do in advance and store it. Now I now it will have to e stored precisely.

I'm going to use it for a HUGE wall. I loved the color purple that I ordered. Tape planet.com has quite a few colors to choose from.

No problem! I'd try to figure out a way to hang it between making it and the wedding. Maybe in a closet that isn't too full? Probably the best bet for preventing wrinkles. Would it be possible to cover it in some way with a garment bag style covering? That way when it came to transport you could scoop the bottoms up into the bag before tying it off and driving it over to the venue.

Kelly the quantity I am going to do isn't practical to hang in a closet but hanging on multiple metal grids. I will probably roll each strand and secure to prevent from wrinkling and when grids are hung up simply release rolls of secured flagging tape.
