Fitting with shoes

Chelsea, on October 21, 2020 at 1:42 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 4
So for my fittings I wore 3 inch heels. I don’t really walk well in heels so I think I want to purchase 1.75 inch heels for my actual wedding day. Do you guys think that’ll mess up the flow of my dress? Or should I purchase 3 inch heels?

Can you go back and have your dress re-hemmed? You want to be comfortable, so I would buy the shorter heel and have your seamstress fix the hem.

I think you should pick shoes that you feel comfortable in. You'll be wearing them all day (or until you take them off at the reception if you choose to switch shoes), so you want to make sure that you can walk in them and are OK wearing them for a while. You may need to have the length of your dress altered again, but at least in this case it would be too long (usually, this is easily fixable) and not too short.

I agree with Lisa! I'd do what you need to make sure you've got comfortable shoes for your wedding day - even if it means hemming another inch off the dress!! It's better than needing to change into more comfortable shoes on your wedding day and having your dress be too long!

Get fitted with the actual shoes you plan to wear so the length can be hemmed properly. Also, if you plan to be barefoot at the reception, get the dress hemmed for that. The difference in height will cause you to trip on the overhang of the dress otherwise.
