Fitting update

Marieke, on June 6, 2019 at 8:17 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9
Hi brides!

A few weeks ago I posted about my fitting NIGHTMARE.. the seamstress took in my dress instead of letting it out (something I didn’t even ask for but she suggested). I couldn’t even zip my dress up! Needless to say I was livid and freaking out.

Today was my follow up fitting. She fixed it! The dress fits wonderfully. There’s still hemming to be done and the bustle to finish, but boy oh boy am I relieved!!

I am a little bummed with how heavy my dress is with the bustle.. it’s just because my dress has so many layers. It ends up pulling the dress down and not be so form fitting around my butt.. a feature my FH and I enjoy haha. I’m sure I won’t even think of it the day of.

I’m so glad this worked out for you!!! I can totally relate to the stress as I just went through the same thing with my dress. When I brought it in, I had a solid extra inch of fabric, but during one of my recent fittings, she’d taken it in so much that I couldn’t even take a full breath and was getting lightheaded/headache. She also told me that it was my fault and that I’d gained weight (ummm no, I’m 4 lbs lighter than when we started). She claimed that she couldn’t let it out anymore and that “I’d just have to do my part to fit”. I’d had enough of the emotional abuse and picked up my dress this morning. I took it to a new seamstress and she let it out in a span of 4 hours. I’m just praying she can salvage the rest of my dress for my wedding next month 🙏🏻

Glad she fixed it! I have come to find that most dresses don't look as nice in the booty with the bustle. Is there any way you can ask her to address that? My mom will do my alterations so I will keep this in mind! I know that I have one layer of netting under my dress my mom will take out simply because I didn't want the extra weight or poof.

I had her cut a few layers of netting too! I’m afraid to ask her to do anything else and risk her messing it up again. I may get rid of a few more layers.. we’ll see. She doesn’t speak good English so I’m afraid if I ask it’ll get lost in translation.

Oh that's awesome that your dress is "all better". When you first posted I wasn't so sure that he outcome would be great but as someone said a good seamstress knows how to fix the day. Yay for you!!
