First vendor booking

Arianna, on June 26, 2019 at 8:06 PM Posted in Planning 0 3
Hi! I am so excited to book my first vendor but I’m in a bit of a dilemma. Our wedding is in April 2021 (we have plenty of time) but the photographer we love is raising her prices starting July 1st. I’m able to get the 2019 prices if I book by then. While we have been in contact with the venue we want to book, we have not put down our deposit and signed the contract due to scheduling issues for the next month. So my question is, do I book the photographer this week even though we have not booked the venue yet? Our date is non negotiable and we are fortunate to be ahead of the game as far as time goes. I guess I feel weird booking a different vendor without the venue officially booked. Any opinions are appreciated!

Do you know how much she is raising her prices by?

Can you explain the situation with the venue to your photographer and see if she would be willing to tweak the date if needed once your deposit is booked with her? I would imagine this far our she probably has some flexibility with openings, even if you end up needing to shift the venue date.

Hey Arianna! Have you discussed your wedding date with your venue, and you know that they definitely have your date available? By this, I mean you will be able to book your venue for your date as soon as your scheduling conflicts are out of the way?

I understand what you mean about it feeling strange about booking your photographer first but if you can say that this is 100% the photographer you want and your wedding date is 100% not going to change, it may be worth booking her.

Will she be raising her cost significantly in July? How much would she charge if you were to change your day after you have already put a deposit down for a specific day (granted that she has the other date free!) These are all factors to consider, especially since you know what your budget can handle better than anyone else!!

Hi Kelsey! She is doubling her prices! I’m going to reach out to her to see if she will give me an extension on time. Thanks for the advice!
