First try on & Picking up wedding dress 1/6

Meghan, on December 19, 2020 at 1:29 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 6
Soooooooo excited to try my dress on the 6th! I tried it on in nude and haven’t seen it in ivory yet!

Any tips from your try on appointments?
Also with covid, they’re not allowing anyone to keep their dress in the store so have to find a safe place in my studio (and away from the puppy)!
Idk if I should be worried, but nervous about having it stored in my place and chancing it getting ruined in some way. My first alterations aren’t until next August. I’m sure they’ll put it away properly for me but wasn’t sure if I should be worried or not?

Thanks!

I had the same concerns! We have a puppy who loves to get into anything he can get his little paws or mouth on! I was told to store the dress in a breathable garment bag, preferably in a dark spot and laying flat. I actually have two dresses, so I laid one flat on a large shelf on top of my closet, and the other I laid flat under the bed in our guestroom.

I haven't had any of my try ons since I got the dress, I'm scheduled for February. But I did take my dress home and was told the same thing as PP. They will likely give it to you in a travel bag and put it in the garment bag for you (if they provide the garment bag or you bring one. Mine provided.) So when you get home you have to take it out and carefully transfer to just the garment bag, that way the fabrics can breathe.

Lucky, I wasn’t allowed to try on when I picked up my dress because it was the very beginning of covid and they wanted to get the shipped dresses out before the stores had to close! So I brought mine to my mom’s house and she’s keeping it safe in a closed off closet. Do you have anyone that you would trust with yours that it may be safer with?

I've had my wedding dress in my closet since February and my big wedding isn't until March 2021. I check on it every now and then but it's stored in a garment back and it's towards the back of my closet where it's dark, nothing has happened to it.

I store my dress in a garment bag with a lot of silica baggies under the guestroom bed. I sew the zipper close in case dh is trying to peek 🤪. I do sometimes try on the dress, because 2022 is a long postponement and worry I might gain this winter because I exercise way less. It’s cold!!! 😂

I’m storing my dress at his parents house. We have a cat but that’s not what I’m worried about. I’d be CONSTANTLY tempted to show my fiancé! I’ve already asked him a bunch of times if he wants to see it!
I’ve purchased a special garment bag from the boutique I purchased my dress at & it’s in a dark, cool room at their house. As my FMIL says, it’s the wedding room since all our supplies are being stored there.
