First dress appointment tommorow!! Help!!

Antannia, on November 24, 2016 at 11:05 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 17

Sooo just made my first appointment at David's Bridal for my wedding dress tommorow, (was waiting for their annual Black Friday sale Deals!! Lol) I'm excited and also very very nervous lol. Brides, I'm just wondering what should I bring to my appointment and also do I wear any special undergarments?? This is all new to me....I don't have my wedding shoes as of yet but I do know I'm wearing heels, so do I bring a pair of heels I have around the house just to see how the dress looks with heels?? Help!! Lol

If you already have shoes that match the dress, I would wear them.

Date twins! So when I went, I didn't bring anything. They had everything you need there. They have under garments for you to try on with your dress. They also have different types of heels for you to try on with the dress. So kind of have an idea in your head of how high you want your heels to be for you wedding. Have fun!

I wore a strapless bra and regular, full booty coverage, underwear. Both shops I went to gave me body shapers to wear instead of my bra. I didn't worry about shoes until I started my fittings.

Definitely go in with some ideas, but listen to the consultant too!! I thought I wanted the biggest ballgown with the most bling and I kept trying them and not loving them. My consultant brought me a simple sheath gown and I fell in love!

I would definitely bring some bottles of water with you. I went and was there for about 2 hours (my dress and bridesmaids dresses) and they didn't offer anything to drink. Thank goodness my MOH brought little goodie bags with water in them.

You don't really need anything! They provide everything for you. I would, however, suggest that you have a budget in mind, and when you tell your sales consultant your budget be firm on it, also lower it because of possible alterations. I was very nice but firm on my budget, I told her that my goal was to leave with a $99 dress in hand, but I would try on dresses that cost up to $300 (major budget bride here!) and she said in a very nice/professional way that it wasn't likely that I would leave with a dress that day, they normally had to order one etc. Well I left with a dress in hand, perfect fit, no alterations needed, $99 before tax.

Funny story: The person beside me was trying to up her mom's limit, being a total diva and really ungrateful about her mom's limits. Her mom gave her a very high (to me) limit, and she kept trying on dresses that cost more then that and all of the ones within the budget she would find a problem with (they looked GREAT on her!), her mom was looking at me like she was really jealous because I was not only buying my own dress, but totally find with keeping to a budget, haha.

    Anyway, have fun!

Thanks soooo much ladies!!! All you guys really helped me to have an idea for tommorow....I wasn't sure if they have their own body shapers that they'll allow you to try on with dresses, I honestly can't wait for tommorow lol @jenniferT I'm also a budget bride also so I'm happy about their 50% off sale so hopefully that'll make buying my dream gown more realistic

    Date twin!

Or triplet I guess Smiley smile

I had my appointment a few weeks ago at David's Bridal, and it wasn't overwhelming.

    Process:

    1) They assign you an associate

    2) They give you a booklet to look through (it's huge, but still doable as far as browsing)

    3) They give you the petticoat for whatever dresses you want that they have

    4) they give you sample heels to wear with the dress if you didn't bring any

    5) have fun and try on the dresses

Everything is at your pace, and they're trying to make a sale, so they'll be nice to you. The more you know/have about your accesscories, the easier the experience will be. If you have the undergarments that you plan on wearing, and/or the shoes, you should bring that for your sake so that you can get close to an accurate picture, but if you don't it's really no biggie.

I also recommend going on line and screen shot or print out pics of the dresses you like. My consultant was very happy that I had dresses in mind already that I wanted to try. Of course they looked very different in person but it helped her know what types of dresses I was looking for. I ended up with something totally different from what I had imagined, haha.

The David's Bridal app is also really fun and helpful, you can save the dresses you like to it and play around with it today.

The store I went to was organized by price, so I just stuck to my isles and didn't even look at any others (didn't' want to temp myself into buying an expensive dress!). We picked out our own first then she helped us into them and made suggestions based off of our comments on the dresses we tried on.

My sister was with me and the sales lady actually recommended a dress to me to try on, brought it over and I put it on... my sister pulled out a pic from her wedding and it was the same exact dress! Cute dress and I liked it but I refuse to wear the same dress my sister did, haha. The sales lady said she had never done that before, we all thought it was rather funny.

Almost date twin too! My FW is going dress shopping on Saturday. I was worried it was getting too late, but I'm glad to see someone else going with the same timeline!

I took shoes, snacks, spanx, strapless bra and a drink. And a phone obviously for pictures. Oh I also had print outs of dresses I saw online and liked to give them a point of reference!

    Good luck!

I didn't have a bustier with me so I just asked to try on one of theirs and then tried on dresses with that.

My first shopping day is tomorrow at David's bridal too! I would bring heels similar in height to what you think you'll be wearing for sure. Bring spanx and wear a strapless bra. Always wear comfy clothes you don't mind changing in/out of. Another tip? Maybe wear your hair and try to your makeup like you think you'd want it for the wedding to help put the visual together. Smiley smile good luck have fun!!
