First Dance Song

Katherine, on July 25, 2017 at 9:53 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 44

I'm having a hard time trying to pick a song for our first dance. There's so many out there. Any advice? What song did you pick for your first dance?

Thanks

FH and I both found our top 3 favorites and we will narrow them down together until we find the one that fits us the best

My mom suggested ours and it's perfect. I never would have used it if she did not say something

Lol I forgot the song - "Today" by Brad Paisley

I let my FH pick. Also, we decided to take dance lessons so we are not just doing the middle school sway for our first dance. The song FH wanted to use is perfect for foxtrot and swing (two of my favorite ballroom dances). ETA - Forgot to include our song. Love is more than a wedding day by Cody Chesnutt.

We decided on "Better today" by Coffey Anderson. The song really fits us.

We are doing Perfect by Ed Sheeran

It just reminded us of our relationship and fit perfectly for the style of song we were wanting

@Katlady. That is exactly what happened when I tried to pick a song for my dad. I somehow played Honor to us All off of the Mulan soundtrack. (as a joke!)

The 3 I am showing him are:

    Perfect x Ed Sheeran

Straight into your Arms x Vance Joy

Come Away with Me x Norah Jones

We had two songs that we sort of feel like are "our" songs - but one of them doesn't really suit a wedding/isn't actually about romantic love so we chose the other one. It's perfect and now knowing that we'll be dancing to it at our wedding it makes me tear up!

My fiancé is in charge of this. He said he's got it narrowed down to about 100 songs lol. He came to me with at last by Etta James. It's nice but it's kinda over done? Do I care about that? I wanted to do can't take my eyes off of you by Frankie vallie but I think it's too upbeat for us to dance to

Long before we got engaged, FH and I were gifted concert tickets to an artist he loves. I wasn't super familiar with him, so we listened to some albums together beforehand to get ready for the concert. When one of the songs came on, FH said whenever he hears it, he imagines it as our wedding song someday. I was sold.

Our song is "Is this Love" by Bob Marley, but we're doing the cover by Corinne Bailey Rae for our first dance. It was a song that was stuck in my head when we first started dating and it played during our second date. I'd suggest picking something that you heard on your dates, danced to, or reminds you of each other.

We listened to a bunch, but in the end we found it by random chance. We were listening on YouTube to one of our favourite artists and the song came on and we were like this is it. Eta song is Thining Out Loud covered by Peter Hollens

We were torn between "Best Thing That Ever Happened To Me" by Gladys Knight and The Pips and "Perfect To Me" by Al Green. FH wanted to do a ballroom dance we learned to the song and Perfect To Me was a waltz and it was a little too fast for us beginners. The Gladys Knight song was perfect for a Rhumba which we know much better. We're doing a part of that song and then going in to Chuck Berry's "You Never Can Tell." We'll be recreating the twist contest from Pulp Fiction (they used that song).
