First Dance Song??

Cara, on February 14, 2011 at 11:07 PM Posted in Planning 0 6

My fiancee and I like rock/metal music. We have decided to have our first dance song be "Wait for you" by a band called Atreyu. While we both love the song, both of our parents seem to think it sounds more of like a break up song rather than a "love"song. I have posted the some of the lyrics (It wouldn't let me post them all) and would love everyone's opinion!! Thanks in advance!

It started with a kiss and turned out something else.

The blood coils in through my veins I think of no one else.

I never believed in much but I believe in this.

I’m incomplete without you, I’d kill to taste your kiss.

I’m lost and lonely scared and hiding.

Blind without you.

When the the world comes crashing down and the skies begin to fall,

I’ll wait for you

When the days grow old and long and my skins turns into stone,

I’ll wait for you

When the pain it seems too much and my heart starts beating out of touch I don’t need a thing,

I’ll wait for you

I just went thru this same thing with a friend of mine who is getting married this year. She and her fiance are in love with this one punk song that is just terrible. The song is fine, but as a first dance song… you can't dance to it. I love rock music as well, so I get why you don't want to do the traditional sappy love songs. The lyrics to Wait for you are a bit morbid… blood coils in my veins? eh~ My friend is now leaning towards a punk remix of "At Last"… it's a classic so your parents will appreciate it, but there are fun versions out there that the two of you might like. We just went to I-tunes and searched for variations of the song until we found one that would work.

And you have time~ who knows what songs will be released in the next year.

Yeah...we do have alot of time. While the song has some "morbid" parts like you said, it is a slow song and very pretty. It would probably have worked better if I posted the video up or something so it could be heard and not just read! thanks for your help though!

Do you have a youtube link?

If you like it, go for it. No one will be listening to the lyrics anyways, they will all be looking at you.

If you really like that song, maybe you can compromise and find just an instrumental version?

I know we had a similar issue and we really wanted something unique to us. We decided to choose Apocalyptica's cover of Nothing Else Matters. One of the first things we did together many years ago was attend a Metallica concert, so it seemed fitting.
