First Dance Song - "latch" by Sam Smith?! Please help me decide :-|

Jessica, on June 17, 2019 at 10:40 AM Posted in Planning 0 7

My FH and I love this song, the acoustic version is OK...I like the regular version... my FH is a bit nervous and get embarrassed easy so I don't want to make it more awkward for him. He does't dance, so our first dance will be a little hard for him so I wanted to pick this song since it is definitely a symbol of us. Why would you guys think if we pick this?

My FH is also nervous about the first dance. That is why we are choosing a faster paced slow song. This way there is more movement. I think this will be a good pick because of this. We are definitely practicing before.

Thanks for your opinion, yes I totally agree and that's the reason why I chose the "faster" type song. We are "walking out" to the dance floor with a more hip hop type song so get him in the mood and then when we are at the dance floor changing the song to "Latch". Thank you.

I would def. do the acoustic version since it is a little slower. Unless ya'll are trying to get a reaction from the crowd then the upbeat version is perfect. My FH is also very nervous about our first dance. He is not a dancer nor does he pretend to be. So we chose something that is very slow and reflects our love for one another.

How does he feel about this song being your guys's first dance?

I think choosing the faster option is a good idea Jessica so he doesn't feel super awkward with the slow tempo in the acoustic version! Perhaps have a practice dance with the two of you to warm him up to the idea of dancing in front of people Smiley smile

Thanks Cliodhna! I'm starting to feel ok about our decision. I will do a practice run at home when no one is there. I think it is best. Good idea.

Future Mrs. G- we both thought it was great until 3 people told us it was too fast :/ then I kept thinking and thinking and we are not traditional people at all. Our whole wedding is going to be touchy moments only because both sides of our families do not get along like among each other (like ex's and new spouses) and both of our parents re-married and they don't get along. So i want everything to be more like upbeat just eat and dance type of "wedding party" . So the music we have decided to pick for the wedding is more fun upbeat. But my FH and I obviously have a special place in our hearts for everyone of them so we are doing everything to make this work LOL. Music is a way to make people laugh and be happy....that and food.

My cousin actually used the acoustic/slower version of this song & everyone loved it & it was very cool hearing the slower version. I say it is a great choice😄
