First Dance Song Help

Taylor, on June 13, 2017 at 7:21 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 20

Hello! I'm struggling to come up with a first dance song. We've never really had a song that was "ours". I'm looking for something fun and not too slow. FH and I met in high school, but didn't start dating until we were in college. I've been thru all of the lists online and Pinterest, but I'm really struggling to find a song. Does anyone have any not as popular ideas? TIA

This is a tough one. It depends on the couple. I wished I could have done Semisonic "Secret Smile".. but i settled for John Legend "All of Me" we love them both but the secret smile is our song but hard to slow dance too.

Lights Down Low by MAX. It's a beautiful song. FYI I would not do the version feat Gnash. The original is BEST Smiley smile

Our first dance was Love Exists by Amy Lee. It's not real slow, but still kinda a ballad. It's not real popular, either (at least I don't think). It came out about 4 months ago. We don't really have a song, either. My husband didn't know that song, lol.

I'm obsessed with colbie caillat's "never going to let you down." It's not super slow and has a fun beat. I'm thinking of doing this during the ceremony either on the walk down or on the walk back up the aisle with FH. But it could work for a first dance too!

We danced to love me like you do by Ellie Goulding, the Abbey Road Performance version. SO beautiful. It sounds like a completely different song than the original

If we hadn't found a slower version of our song, I would have used Ray LaMontagne's "You Are The Best Thing". It's fun and a little more upbeat, by still slow enough for a first dance that we could handle as total non-dancers.

Have you hear Ingrid Michaelson's "You and I"? Its very cute and has a fun beat to it. Also Jack Johnson's "Better Together" and "I Got You" are great.

We are using Old 45's by Chromeo because we both love Chromeo and know the song. Pick something you both know and love and it doesn't matter if it's a traditional, as long as you both are happy.

We haven't chosen yet, either. We laughed about doing "When I'm 64" by the Beatles, but heck, that's only 4 years for us!

Since we've been dating for almost 15 years, his daughter suggested Etta James' "At Last" LOL

We used "you're all i need yo get by" marvin gaye and tammi terrell. We wanted something different. We took a couple of dance classes to get more comfortable with dancing and next thing you know we signed up for more classes and had a choreographed dance. We did this with like 5 weeks to the wedding.

@Wanda - I always thought it would be Sooo cute for a 2nd (or 3rd?) Wedding to use George Jones' "The Right Left Hand."

Check Rachel Platten's album - she has a couple underused songs on there that could work

If FH lets me pick, I'll probably use "Mama He's Crazy" or "Never Tear Us Apart" by INXS. Maybe Unchained Melody...
