First bad Etsy experience

I ordered our custom boutonnieres back at the end of January and was told to not expect them until March because the feathers had to be ordered and it would take some time. I paid with a credit card (thank goodness) and my ship date is March 13. However, I've been wondering if the seller was going to contact me for final approval and I hadn't heard from them... so yesterday I went to send a quick follow up message just to see where we were and - the shop no longer exists!!! What??? How does Etsy let you close your shop before all of your sales are shipped? I can't submit anything to etsy until after March 13 and same with the credit card but the shop owner hasn't returned my emails and it seriously isn't looking good.

I just really don't want to deal with it, but I know I'm going to have to.

    That's so horrible! Sorry that happened! Hopefully you can get it all worked out.

    I had a bad experience with Etsy around christmas time. I ordered a sweater from a shop and got a confirmation email a few days later. I got a tracking number and every time I tried to check the status of my order, it kept saying the tracking number was invalid. I contacted the shop owner and she reassured me everything was ok. A few weeks went by and I had yet to receive my order. I tried contacting her again and no response. Come to find out she was a complete FAKE. I had to make a complaint to Etsy and they finally refunded my money & closed her shop. I was so pissed but I've always had good experiences with them in the past.

    Etsy needs to do something about all the fake shops they allow to open. It's ridiculous.

    Did you try looking up the company name on Google? There was a shop I loved that was on Etsy and one day they were gone. I looked them up online and they were still thriving on their own website and on Facebook. Eventually they were back on Etsy - she said she was taking a break because of all the orders. Not sure if that's the case in this situation, but its worth looking into?

    Just to hopefully ease your mind, Etsy is super quick to close a shop if their bill isn't paid, but won't let shop owners use their story account balance to pay either. I had mine closed for being 5 days late because the card associated with the account had just expired and I didn't realize I hadn't updated the info. She can't do anything shop related until fees are paid, including responding to shop related convos or marking things shipped. I'd give it until the 13th, see if it's still closed, then pursue it with the card company. Good luck and I hope it works out.

    Don't panic just yet! I was in contact with a shop about my bridesmaids dresses and the same thing happened to me. I waited a few days and she opened back up. Sometimes if they don't pay for the subscription then etsy will close their shop, or in my case, she was reconfiguring her shop and forgot to let me know!

    Wow, im so sorry to hear this. I've never had a bad experience, but there was one time I was going to buy a coat from one shop amd it closed. its been closed foronths and still hasn't opened again. I would try to remain calm and take the advice of the other ladies here. I wish I could be more helpful. I hope everything works out. Keep us updated.

    What was the shop name? I have an etsy store and they have been doing a lot of updates lately. I would try and contact etsy just through customer service. Even if it says the 13th is the contact date I would see if there is anyway to find them or see if they can give you some direction.

    I ordered bm hangers and they took about 3 weeks to come in and for about 5 days the shop I ordered from had disappeared which worried me but they are back up and I got the hangers.

    Sometimes etsy will close the shop if a customer complains big time or if etsy has questions within the shop (about a week usually) and if all is good they will be opened... This happened to us about 2 years ago.

    Just wondering if you ever did receive your order as I am having the same issue with the same seller, Matthew Wessells, he no longer has an Etsy store but a store on StoreEnvy called blue spruce fly co.

    I actually did! It was last minute and there was an issue with the delivery but I heard back from him and ended up getting my order (if you hear back, which I hope you do!! MAke sure you clarify what you ordered because he had my order all confused), I hope it goes smoothly for you! I wasn’t super impressed with the quality of the boutonnières when I got them but I was so happy to have them in time it didn’t really matter. It’s been almost 5 years though so possibly he makes them completely different.
