First appointment at David's Bridal...?

Charlotte, on November 21, 2009 at 7:26 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 21

I have my first appointment at David's Bridal tomorrow and I was curious what do I do? Like do I put my hair up or what do I bring? Any past experiences appreciated! (Truth be told I'm only going to try on a dress I can get cheaper through a once worn website.) Haha.

Oh and where I'll be going by myself (bridal party lives out of state) will they take pictures of me in the dresses for me, if I ask?

Good cuz DB can be a real pain in the ass. the sales people are really pushy. My friend & I went to look at BM dresses, and i went in there saying, i am not going to be pushed arnd by a salesperson and someone asked us if we needed help and i was sooo pissed off because their dresses were sorted by style # instead of size (or so it seemed, everything was really disorganized on the racks) and i couldnt find a size of a particular dress my friend wanted to try.. she ended up bringing out swatches and paper work and looking up other stuff, we didnt ask her to do anything.. she stuck arnd the whole time, asking ?s abt when i was getting married, etc and i was lke, look..we're just LOOKING, not interested in purchasing right now.. and she still ended up wasting HER own time w/us, when we told her up front we were just trying on.. and she got huffy w/us when she handed me her card and I very politely said "Oh.. thank you but no thank you" & we left. she just couldnt let go of a poss. sale.

P.s.,dont let them push you around too much.. i would wear your hair down but bring a hairtie so you can pull it back if you want to try a veil on, etc. i truly hope enjoy your experience as much as possible.. xoxo

I would put my hair up. (My hair was everywhere by the second dress!) I also went by myself and I also had them take pictures. They were very nice a tad bit pushy but, everyone wants to get a sell. Relax and have fun!!! Oh as for cheap I only paid a hundred dollars for my dress and it is wonderful.

I would say to put your hair in a ponytail or bun in case you want to try veils, which I highly suggest. The sales reps there can be VERY pushy especially trying to match your veil to your dress. Be firm with things you know you do and do not want, but be open to some ideas that could be unexpectedly great ones. When you go in just tell them you are there to try dresses but not ready to commit to any yet. If you have an appointment with a consultant they will try to get your selection on their form and will call and check up with you.

They will provide you with a slip & bra to try on with the dress if needed.

I made myself look just like I would for the wedding so I could imagine myself that day!!! Strapless bra, tummy tucker (if you want one) and your shoes are great to take along with you!

I didn't have any problems with DB. I just walked in w/o an appointment and was helped right away. I registered with them and was there about 90 minutes trying on 5 dresses. I came back about 3 weeks later. Same thing. I just walked in, told them my name and was helped. They pulled the dress I had decided on previously, but I asked them to pull an online only dress that I knew was on the rack because it was the last dress I tried on previously. That was the one I ended up buying. Both consultants were very nice, agreed and disagreed on opinions and even joked around lol. I went in with my hair down and used one of their bras and slips Smiley smile My only compaint about Davids is the flourecent (sp?) lighting. It makes things, including me, look kind of drab.

Went to my local DB and have a wonderful experience!!! Had an appt for a wed night. I was the only one there to try on any dresses. My mom, G-Ma, and Aunt went with me. They were taking pics like crazy. I wore my hair half up half down with a bump-it(LOVE these things), tried on a veil and 5 dresses. Sales ladies was NEVER pushy and had some wonderful suggestions! i will most likely go here to buy my dress. I agree with Doozie that the floresent lighting is not quite the most flattering but didnt cause me to have a bad experience. Have fun and savor your dress trying-on experience.

I went to db last year b/c I only wanted to see a dress in person that my sis had showed me online. I had no intentions of even trying the dress on but let my girlfriends talk me into trying on two dresses. I found DB to be VERY pushy. You have to "register" before they even let you try on dresses. They want your name, email, phone number. They asked for my fiance's name and info and I told them he won't be trying on any dresses. Why do you need that. Anyways, after the fact, I started getting phone calls from other vendors they had given my number to! I was highly pissed. Needless to say, when I started my serious dress hunt, DB was not even an option!!! Also it's been my experience most shops won't let u take pics unless you're buying. Put on some makeup and wear neutral undergarments. Leave the pink polka dots at home! They will show thru the dress LOL!

So originally DB was never even going to be an option of mine, b/c i have had so many friends who have had problems. I was just gonna go in try some on to see what I like - my hopes were to go back to boston running of the brides next year to find a dress - well, my consultant at DB was amazing, awesome, something I never even imagined! She wasnt pushy at all, she let me try on about 10 dresses & I just wasnt crazy bout any but learned I really like sweetheart neckline, corset back...& I was like okay, im done trying on dresses, didnt find anything I liked, & she said to me well before you go I just want you to try on 1 more dress, its not one you had a pic of - but she thought it was everything i was looking for & low and behold I cried the moment I put it on (it was thee dress for me)!!! I had no problems with taking pics, i had my mom, sis, 2 aunts, gram and cousin with me and they accomodated all! I guess it really depends, I will never deal with any1 besides my consultant

It went well! I didn't have any friends with me so it was just me and my consultant. I wish she was a little younger, totally different generations. Haha. Advice for others though, go more than 2 hours before they close, I had my appointment for 4 and they closed at 6 and I wish I could have stay a little bit longer to look at head pieces and see if they had a clearance rack. My consultant was with me and another soon to be bride, so she wasn't up my @$$ all the time. But, the styles she picked out for me made me raise an eyebrow at her. Haha. But overall it was good!
