I am so upset and emotional that I had to fire my wedding planner 9 months away from my wedding. I had to let her go because she was horrible at communication, she never made my wedding an obligation, she would go weeks and weeks without returning my emails, phone calls and text messages. It was to the point where I did not trust that she could deliver on my wedding day. It was to the point where I was starting to stress. Moving forward, I am thinking of doing my wedding without a wedding planner. Is this a good idea? Is anyone else planning their own wedding?

Most people don’t hire a planner, and weddings are always stressful. Definitely get a DOC though.

This website alone has been my wedding planner. Plus my wedding/ planning obsession helps me out a bit. But I am doing it on my own with my MOH and FMIL. Wedding planners , like stated below, only seem necessary for 200+ guests.

Yes this site has been a HUGE help! I was able to view the checklist for what i should be doing and reading/posting on the forums really answers a lot of questions. I did all my venue and vendor research online. Just inquired and got quotes back in minutes. I found planning very easy to do alone. I just keep spreadsheets of quotes, contracts for vendors hired and a sheet for whats been paid and what needs to be paid. You just take it one step at a time and go from there. If you have your vendors and your venue then your largely set. If you haven't done that then begin there. All the other details will fall in line. I used this site mostly to find all my vendors.

I've been completely planning my own wedding- it's as stressful as you make it-and even though it's stressful for me, it's not that bad!

I've made a lot of lists and looked at WW and other places for timelines and tried to stick to them or be early on a lot of them. I have had no help from my FMIL or mother-the only things I didn't have a part in were my bachelorette and bridal shower! I definitely don't think a planner is necessary-you got this girl!
