Fingers too small for rings... HELP!

Rebecca, on July 12, 2017 at 12:50 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 32

So FH and I are engaged but without a ring. We are having some issues because I am an EXTREMELY small person. Like, I am a size 3.5 ring. When looking online at what Jared and Zales have, the smallest size they have is a 5. Help??? Smiley sad

I don't know if this is even an option and my apologies if this is in any way offensive--but my first thought was that they maybe make toe rings in a smaller size?

You can probably get something custom made as well. It's not as expensive as you think! Don't just shop the major jewelry stores.

I'm not sure where you live, but in South Florida there is a mecca of individual jewelers in Miami that are reputable jewelers who a LOT of people go to. Im sure somewhere like that exists where you live where they can make you a custom ring. They won't have them at the major brand stores as PP has said.

You can go to a private jeweler for something custom. I have size 5 1/4 fingers so not crazy small. But my friend is a size 4 and her rings fit fine. Good luck.

Just b/c it only comes in a 5 doesn't mean it can't be sized down. You got en engagement ring in your size, you'll find a band too! You just have to keep looking. Go talk to jewelers especially privately owned shops. Zales and Jared's probably only stalk the more common sizes. Also try amazon. My engagement ring is 4 1/4, we bought a size 4 1/2 band on Amazon.

I would recommend going to local jewelry stores instead of a big box store. A lot of times you get a better deal and better quality but you can often make a custom piece for less than you think.

I have very skinny fingers too. I wear a 3.25 size ring -- trust me, you have options. Any reputable jeweler will be able to size a ring for you. There may be some styles you'd have to discuss with them, but you definitely have options.

Stores like Zales and Jared's only list down to a size 5, but if you and/or your FH go into a store they can custom order your size for you. It may take a couple weeks longer to get it because they'll have to make it from scratch for you, but they can definitely do it.

My advice to you is to go into the stores and personally talk to the sales representatives. They'll be able to work something out for you.

My FH had no issues when he bought my ring, and we had no issues going in and getting it sized DOWN because he got me a 3.5 and I really needed a 3.25. I also haven't had any issues band shopping. It kind of sucks trying rings on because 99% of them are too big for me to get a great feel, but no one has said they couldn't get a ring made in my size.

    Good luck!

3.25 ring size here. It's possible. Go to a custom jeweler. Smiley winking

FH proposed to me with a 5 size ring , and I am 4.0. We just took it to the jeweler he bought it from and they downsized it. Go to the stores and talk to a jeweler, you definitely have more options than you think.

I'm a 3.75, and I was able to get my ring through a custom jeweler. It actually ended up being slightly cheaper because I used less platinum and smaller side stones than I probably would have for a larger ring. If that's not an option, I second those who suggested getting a 4 or 5 and having it sized.

I have a friend who has a ring size of 2.75 and she was able to find a ring but I'm not sure where. They're out there though!

Mine is from Jared! FH got me a size 5 but the store resized it to 4.5. I would avoid getting answers online and going in person to see what can be sized.

ETA my ring could have been sized to 4 but it would have altered the diamonds on the side too drastically.

Sizing down is very easy to do. If you absolutely love one from Jared or Zales, buy it and get it resized. Otherwise, go to a private jeweler or look online. I got my wedding band from Etsy and it's STUNNING! Online isn't a bad option (but DEFINITELY check the return policy before you buy!).

Two birch goes down to a size 3! I'm getting my wedding band from them because they will customize any ring for you and also their prices are fairly reasonable! Only thing with them I would say is if you wanna do a diamond get it from somewhere else and just buy the mount from them as they do not have extremely high quality diamonds but if you are looking for affordable then definitely because they do still have good diamonds they are just not the best Smiley smile also they have colored stones and moissanite (sp?) and CZ

I feel your pain! I wear a 3.5 too. I haven't had any issues getting my rings sized down though. I would avoid places like jareds or zales because they won't size anything down more than 2 sizes I believe. My FH got my e-ring from Bailey Banks and Biddle and my wrap from Reed's. I would definitely recommend independent stores because they can do more for sizing rings up or down!

I have small fingers (below a 3) and we had to get the rings custom made. I would go in person and see what your options are.

    I'm a size 3.5 too Smiley smile

We went to Shane Co, and they just had to resize it!! Look at other stores besides the major ones. They will make it for you!

This is my ring. My husband had it made in a size 5.5 (because he had no idea haha) and I had to have it taken down to a 3 or 3.5. The jewelry store had no issues doing this for us! Same for the band; they were able to size it down easily.

I wear a 2.5 ring! Try a solitaire-like engagement ring since sizing that down won't mess with the prongs and a plain-ish band. We bought my rings backwards so I'm wearing the band now. I turned it to the side so you can see the small diamonds on top but plain underside the Zales was able to size down when I bought it from them
