Finding a venue for 2021 in Ny...

Ashley, on December 31, 2020 at 11:16 AM Posted in New York Planning 0 10
Hey y’all, my wedding is September 12, 2021 in NYS. Since we’re unsure if the restrictions will still be around at that time ( we think they will), we’ve gone with a micro wedding route to abide by NY restrictions (50 ppl)— unfortunately most venues are pretending this restriction doesn’t exist. Is it worth it to continue to pay full price for venues when only a handful of people will be there? Also does anyone else get frustrated when reaching out to venues and they dance around the pricing?

Paid my wedding venue $14k for 100 guests.. it’s not easy getting a direct answer if Covid restrictions still in place by then, what’s the alternate plan regarding refund for less guess.

Venues are likely to raise their prices for the next year, soon, so they are going to shy away from actual quotes. Just keep pressing.

Start looking at restaurants and smaller venues like town halls.

I would ask about their policy and if you have a local brides group on Facebook check there. I am comfortable continuing to pay my venue because I know from other brides that they are issuing refunds the week of the wedding for the amount paid over 50 people. However, I do know other venues who are being jerks.

Oh, thanks! I haven't yet joined any FB groups but will definitely get on that. That's great that you have a venue that is accomodating! (as they all should be IMO). This has been the most stressful part about planning and its only been a week LOL

Interesting, thanks! Restaurants are a good idea, I've been really adamant about having an outdoor wedding, but it looks like it won't be as cost-efficient if things go south and I'd have to stick to 50

Right! maybe I need to do some more digging. the answers I've been getting so far (from venues) shy away from any sort of refunds. Hopefully, I can find an outdoor venue that can be accomodating

I'm in the Yonkers/ White Plains area. We're looking upstate, Tarrytown, and Staten Island area for outdoor venues but it's been a bust so far. What about you?

Long Island. I don’t know that area as well. I know some venues but none that are strictly outdoor. There are some really nice vineyards in the Hudson Valley. Maybe one of those? Wish I could help more!

Oooh, thanks! I'll definitely look into Hudson valley. I'm not married to a specific area, I'm even looking into surrounding states lol
